Service Commissioning Engineer (Senior Level)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Service Commissioning Engineer to join our growing team. In this hands-on and customer-facing role, you’ll be responsible for servicing, commissioning, and maintaining gas detection systems across multiple sites. You’ll also act as a technical lead and mentor, supporting other engineers and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Servicing

  • Commission, service, and maintain gas detection equipment and related systems.
  • Conduct test procedures and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and carry out effective repairs.
  • Replace sensors, control panels, and other components when required.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics.
  • Maintain safe working practices at all times.

Customer Relations

  • Provide technical support and training to clients and site engineers.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers.
  • Escalate complex technical or customer issues when needed.
  • Deliver demonstrations and ensure customers fully understand system operation.

Team & Leadership Support

  • Act as the senior point of contact for other engineers, offering guidance and technical expertise.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, including training and coaching.
  • Provide cover for colleagues and contribute to the wider team’s success.

Reporting & Administration

  • Complete accurate commissioning and servicing reports.
  • Record site data, attach photographs, and update CRM systems.
  • Ensure all documentation meets company standards and deadlines.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up to date with the latest company products, technologies, and policies.
  • Actively contribute to process improvement and service quality.
  • Support company objectives and promote our mission and values.


About You

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven experience with commissioning and servicing gas detection or similar equipment.
  • Confident in using testing tools (e.g. multimeters, test gases).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documents.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office, CRM systems).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping.
