Head of Finance Systems & Reporting – Australia
Lead finance operations, reporting, and compliance across a major energy management and industrial automation company. Location: Melbourne. Executive remuneration package. Senior finance leadership role with regional responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial accounting operations across general ledger, AP, AR, and fixed assets.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
Prepare consolidated financial statements under IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidation.
Drive financial close efficiency and continuous improvement.
Prepare management accounts and reports for senior and regional leadership.
Provide insights on business performance, variance drivers, and trends.
Develop dashboards, KPIs, and analytical metrics.
Support planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles.
Assess profitability across products, customers, and business units.
Present financial results to executive leadership and board stakeholders.
Prepare statutory financial statements and annual reports.
Manage external audit and internal audit engagements.
Ensure adherence to accounting, tax, and governance requirements.
Coordinate audit planning, fieldwork, and completion.
Manage corporate tax, GST, FBT, and international tax compliance.
Oversee regulatory and compliance reporting.
Maintain internal control frameworks including SOX controls.
Conduct control assessments and implement remediation actions.
Manage financial policies, procedures, and accounting manuals.
Ensure proper authorisations and segregation of duties.
Promote control awareness across the organisation.
Oversee cash management, liquidity, and treasury operations.
Manage cash forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships.
Coordinate FX risk management and hedging activities.
Ensure adherence to treasury policies and governance.
Lead financial systems strategy including ERP and consolidation tools.
Drive finance digitalisation, automation, and process improvement.
Partner with IT on system upgrades and integrations.
Implement enhancements to reporting and analytics.
Champion continuous improvement and best‑practice adoption.
Lead and develop accounting, reporting, and finance teams.
Provide coaching, performance management, and capability development.
Build a high‑performing, technically strong finance function.
Manage resourcing, succession planning, and team culture.
Partner with business units to support financial performance.
Provide commercial guidance on pricing, margins, and profitability.
Coordinate with global and regional finance peers.
Work with legal, tax, and compliance stakeholders.
Engage external auditors, advisors, and regulators.
Represent finance in executive and cross‑functional forums.
About You – Education & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
CA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
12-15+ years in financial accounting, reporting, or audit.
5+ years in senior finance leadership roles.
Finance & Reporting Expertise
Deep expertise in accounting, reporting, and consolidation.
Strong IFRS and Australian Accounting Standards capability.
Statutory reporting and audit management experience.
Solid understanding of SOX or similar control frameworks.
Broad tax compliance knowledge including corporate tax and GST.
End‑to‑end financial close expertise.
Leadership & Management
Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams.
Track record of driving transformation and process improvement.
Strong stakeholder influence and executive communication.
Experience managing complex, multi‑entity operations.
Systems & Technical
Strong experience with SAP S/4HANA.
Familiarity with consolidation and reporting tools.
Advanced Excel and modelling capability.
Experience driving digital transformation in finance.
Industry Preference
Experience in energy, manufacturing, industrial automation, engineering, or large‑scale industrial sectors.
Multinational or matrix organisation experience preferred.
Exposure to global finance operations or regional coordination.
Experience with M&A integration or transformation environments.
