The Role
In this role, you will provide high-level specialist leadership in Reliability Engineering, guiding the development, optimisation and performance of water, sewer and reuse assets. You will play a critical role in shaping asset strategy by delivering expert insights, technical advice and evidence-based recommendations that inform investment decisions and long-term planning. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive improved asset reliability, support operational excellence, and contribute to departmental and organisational objectives. Your expertise will ensure our infrastructure is safe, sustainable and capable of meeting current and future customer needs.
Building and developing the performance, condition and risk of the assets (past, current and predictive)
Project technical input / oversight of the Water Efficiency Program, Sewer Improvement Program and Overall Scheme Asset Health visibility
Lead, direct and contribute to application of Reliability Engineering practices to eliminate defects, analyse mean time to failure, and optimise investment interventions to maintain expected levels of service across water, sewer and reuse assets
Contribute to organisational objectives by ensuring infrastructure reliability aligns with safety, compliance and customer service requirements.
Partner with operations, maintenance and planning teams to identify issues, develop solutions and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for
We’re seeking an experienced Reliability Engineering professional with strong technical expertise, exceptional analytical capability and the ability to influence asset strategy. You will bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills and a commitment to delivering safe, reliable and sustainable outcomes across complex water and wastewater systems.
Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent competency
Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role with a focus on reliability engineering.
Strong experience within asset management and process management
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the capability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $152,924 - $169,915 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
