Youth Opportunities is a South Australian based not-for-profit organisation that has been delivering wellbeing and leadership programmes to young people for 25 years. As our reach and impact expands nationally, we are aiming to recruit a handsâon leader with change management experience to deliver on our exciting national strategy and take our organisation to the next level.
The Role
Working with the Board of directors and executive management team, the Chief Executive is responsible for providing strategic leadership for Youth Opportunities to establish longârange goals, strategies, plans and policies and be accountable for their implementation.
Main Responsibilities
Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
Lead and motivate staff to advance employee engagement and develop a high performing management team
Establish and maintain enduring positive relationships with schools, business partners, supporters and key stakeholders
Oversee all operations, fundraising and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
Optimise workplace and program safety (including psychological safety), provide positive leadership and help to drive a positive workplace culture within the organisation
Continue to build on our peerless reputation for program fidelity and outstanding results

Embody personal leadership and commitment to personal growth and people development consistent with the Youth Opportunities ethos of personal empowerment and leadership
Strong business acumen: financial management skills, risk and opportunities management, outcomes focus, ability to translate strategy to sound business plans
Demonstrated ability to exercise executive responsibility, adaptability, and initiative for all organisational activities within limited and broad direction
Brings an entrepreneurial spirit to help shape and deliver our national expansion strategy
Proven people management skills with a leadership style that unites people to a common cause, showing empathy whilst maintaining accountability for performance outcomes
High level of interpersonal, relationship management, conflict resolution, and assertive communication skills
High level of verbal and written communication, presentation, media and facilitation skills
High level of staff development, succession planning, change management and cultural transformation skills
A robust, yet dynamic risk management approach
Knowledge / Experience / Qualifications
Demonstrated experience of 3+ years in a similar leadership / management role with strategic leadership and financial sustainability accountabilities
Understanding of the notâforâprofit sector and its compliance and legislative requirements
Networks and experience in secondary education, skills development, wellbeing and/or philanthropic sectors
Tertiary qualification in Management, Psychology, Business, Education or similar field preferred
