SENIOR SPECIALIST – OPTICAL LASER & MECHANICAL DESIGN

WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW €35,000 – €50,000 Location: North Vicenza, Italy Permanent contract Hybrid flexibility depending on project phase Working on advanced industrial 3 D printing systems JOB DETAILS Our client is an innovative manufacturer of industrial 3 D printing systems, continuing to push the boundaries of laser-based additive manufacturing technologies. This position sits within the R& D team and plays a critical role in the design, optimisation and integration of laser systems into high-precision industrial machines. This is not purely a research-focused optics role. The business requires someone who can combine deep knowledge of laser optical systems with practical mechanical design capability to ensure seamless integration into production platforms.

You will act as the internal Subject Matter Expert for laser optics while also contributing to mechanical system design, alignment strategy, thermal stability considerations and overall system robustness. This is a highly hands-on position involving laboratory testing, prototyping, system redesign and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the design and optimisation of laser optical systems used in industrial 3 D printing platforms Develop and refine optical paths, beam delivery systems and power management strategies Contribute to mechanical design of laser modules, mounts, housings and alignment structures Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure structural stability, thermal control and precision alignment Troubleshoot and redesign optical-mechanical systems to improve efficiency, reliability and performance Define testing procedures, validation protocols and quality standards for laser systems Conduct hands-on laboratory testing and system calibration Support continuous improvement of laser integration within production machines ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE Strong hands-on experience in laser optical system design and optimisation Mechanical design experience (CAD modelling of housings, chambers, mounts or structural components) Understanding of tolerance stack-up, thermal expansion and alignment sensitivity Experience integrating laser systems into industrial equipment Practical troubleshooting and system redesign capability Comfortable working cross-functionally with R& D and machine design teams Fluent in English DESIRABLE Experience within additive manufacturing or high-precision industrial machinery Knowledge of laser scanning systems and beam shaping technologies Experience with laboratory optical instrumentation and validation equipment
