Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, AMXL JP AMXL Japan is looking for a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to contribute toward the team vision and build the Reports/Dashboards/Applications necessary for business and operate them. We operate one of the largest e-commerce businesses in Japan and strive to be “Earth’s most customer‑centric company.” We are building a fulfillment network that delivers products as promised, while the logistics and retail environment continues to evolve rapidly. As Amazon Japan’s supply chain logistics become increasingly complex, we need a Business Intelligence Engineer to create and improve indicators and dashboards related to transportation, stable operation, efficiency, and overall business performance using AWS and Amazon internal tools. Key job responsibilities:

The role requires setting day‑to‑day and strategic priorities, partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders, and establishing a roadmap to deliver BI solutions that meet business needs. The role requires building mechanisms and standards for ensuring engineering excellence (e.g., correctness and efficiency) and operational excellence (e.g., quality, consistency, reliability). The role requires defining metrics to measure the team’s progress, data/solution quality, and engineering/operational excellence. The role requires delivering BI solutions for complex problems, often at the architectural level and in conjunction with other engineering teams.

A day in the life You attend daily business reviews to understand what’s happening with key network metrics, spend time with strategy & ops teams to find ways to meet customer expectations, write quality documents that plan, inform, and align internal stakeholders, challenge the status quo, and drive data‑based decision making within your team. You take business trips within and outside Japan as required to build your skills and network or test your plans and assumptions, and you are always ready to jump in and take charge when problems or challenges emerge. About the team Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) JP is a single‑threaded organization that owns Amazon’s end‑to‑end Heavy & Bulky (H&B) logistics network with our willing and customer‑obsessed partners, offering shipping, service, and support for consumers and companies in a safe, reliable, seamless, standardized, and sustainable way that surprises and delights our customers. Our delivery partners are experienced in H&B deliveries, providing special‑handling services such as Room of Choice Delivery, Installation/Assembly, and Recycling/Haul‑Away. The team brings together individuals across operations, supply chain, tech, finance, planning, customer experience, business intelligence, and program management to collaborate across Amazon, constantly improving and scaling operations while insisting on the highest standards and obsessing over delivering bigger smiles for our customers. Basic Qualifications

5+ years of professional or military experience 5+ years of SQL experience Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi‑TB) data sets Experience with the theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results Experience scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills Experience with the theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs Experience managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership
