A leading international renewable energy IPP is seeking a Project Development Manager to drive the development of wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Italy. This is a high-impact role offering full ownership of projects from early-stage development through Ready-To-Build (RTB), all within a fast-paced, growing, and mission-driven environment.

About the Role As a key member of the development team, you will lead all activities related to greenfield, mid-stage, and mature renewable energy projects. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to progress projects efficiently and compliantly through all development milestones.

Responsibilities Lead development activities for wind, solar, and BESS projects in Italy through to Ready-To-Build (RTB) Manage project schedules, budgets, and timelines, ensuring alignment across internal departments Coordinate external developers, engineering firms, consultants, authorities, and advisors to secure required permits and approvals Identify and mitigate development risks—technical, financial, regulatory, legal, and environmental Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners Contribute to improving development processes, supporting portfolio growth, project scalability, and technical/financial optimisation

Requirements Minimum 7 years’ experience in renewable energy project development (solar, wind, or BESS) Degree in Engineering or a related technical field Strong understanding of Italy’s renewable energy regulatory landscape, permitting processes, and grid connection principles Proven ability to independently manage complex projects, documentation, budgets, and external interfaces Solid knowledge of industry standards, administrative procedures, and regulatory requirements Highly motivated, with strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills Experience working in an international environment is an advantage Native or fluent Italian, with strong professional English skills Availability to travel within Italy when needed
