Technician IoT Full Stack Developer

Short description of the position:

We are seeking a talented and motivated “IoT Full Stack Engineer” to join our team and contribute to the RECEPTIC Project. RECEPTIC is an IoT solution for tracking work tools, based on a patented system. The platform integrates hardware gateways (Re-View), BLE beacons (Re-Find), and a cloud backend managing IoT communications logic, business intelligence, data analytics and device monitoring. The system uses Django, PostgreSQL, REST APIs and an MQTT broker, deployed on AWS infrastructure. We look for a system-oriented IoT engineer capable of understanding the full stack from embedded device communication to cloud backend, database logic. The ideal candidate bridges firmware constraints and cloud architecture, ensuring a scalable, robust and production‑ready IoT platform.

Tasks:

- Design, develop and finalize backend services using Django and REST APIs.

- Optimize and maintain PostgreSQL database schemas and performance optimization.

- Integrate and manage MQTT broker communication for IoT device messaging.

- Manage MQTT‑based communication between IoT gateways and cloud backend.

- Deploy and manage containerized services (Docker) on AWS infrastructure.

- Implement security best practices (authentication, authorization, API protection).

- Collaborate on system architecture evolution and scalability planning.

- Support integration and troubleshooting of ESP32‑based IoT gateways.

- Document software design, development processes, and guidelines.

Requirements:

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

- Strong experience with Python and Django framework.

- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.

- Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL and database optimization.

- Experience in development of Web application and Geospatial data visualization (mapping tools)

- Experience with MQTT protocol and IoT architectures.

- Experience with Docker and Linux server environments.

- Experience deploying applications on AWS (EC2, Cognito, RDS, VPC).

- Frontend experience (React or similar frameworks).

- Version control with Git (GitHub/GitLab).

- Ability to work independently and in team

- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.

- Proficiency in English; knowledge of German and/or Italian is an advantage.

Nice to have:

- Experience with IoT fleet/device management systems.

- Knowledge of data analytics and dashboard development.

- Experience with system performance tuning and scaling.

- Experience with ESP32 or similar microcontrollers by using embedded C firmware

- Understanding of BLE communication and RSSI‑based proximity logic.

- Experience with system observability, logging and performance monitoring.

- Familiar with FILAMNET framework and PHP
