As the Design & Construction (GEMS) Construction Manager, you are a customer-obsessed leader in the Amazon construction process. You will implement the facility network infrastructure, including sortation centers, delivery stations, and auxiliary buildings supporting those facilities. The construction projects may include new builds, retrofits, and expansions. You will conduct deep-dive reviews of budgets and schedules, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in contractor bid packages. You will partner with internal customers and external stakeholders to earn their trust and engage as a team to deliver results. You will ensure information is communicated effectively and timely to internal and external stakeholders. This role combines construction engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management.
Key responsibilities
- Supervising the implementation and management of Amazon’s safety programs and standards with the internal and external project team.
- Manage a project, problem resolution or effort.
- Ensure that the skills and competencies of contract labor are appropriate to the need and fit to undertake the work.
- Operate independently in the assigned region, interacting with leadership and stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Comprehensive budget and schedule tracking and forecasting, with a focus on frugality and delivering more with less while ensuring a smooth hand-over to Amazon stakeholders.
- Interface with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure regulatory compliance and smooth job execution.
- Advise on the impact of change on time, cost and permitting.
- Maintain timely and comprehensive communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Location & travel
This role requires 60% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation
- 3+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in project management in construction and contracts management
- Experience managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously
- 4+ years of program or project management experience, or PMP certificate

Compensation & benefits
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Salary ranges may vary by location: USA, MA, Boston - 77,400.00 - 135,400.00 USD annually; USA, NY, New York - 89,000.00 - 155,800.00 USD annually; USA, VA, Arlington - 77,400.00 - 135,400.00 USD annually.
