Investment Analyst Intern

Overview Founded in 2023, Axel Carbon Capital is a pan-European climate tech investment holding company backed by a high-profile collective of angel investors, industry experts, and single-family offices. We invest in early-stage, hardware-first technologies tackling industrial and energy system decarbonization. To date, we have built a portfolio of 12 startups across Europe.

The Role We are seeking an Investment Analyst Intern to support the management team in the overall operations of the fund, with a primary focus on managing the investment process.

Key Responsibilities Financial Modeling & Due Diligence:

Collaborate closely with the management team to perform comprehensive business and climate due diligence. Build, audit, and analyze complex financial models and capitalization tables in Excel, tailored for both Venture Capital and upcoming Private Equity frameworks. AI-Driven Market Analysis:

Conduct in-depth research on climate technology trends and regulatory landscapes. Effectively leverage AI tools and LLMs to optimize data gathering, automate workflows, and accelerate market mapping. Origination & Deal Flow:

Manage and track the deal flow process, scouting and evaluating high-potential startups. Investment Committee Support:

Assist in preparing rigorous materials and memorandums for the Investment Committee. Help manage our private investor network by preparing regular updates. Portfolio & Operations:

Actively engage with our portfolio companies, monitoring their progress. Contribute to the fund’s operations, including PR activities and managing our LinkedIn presence.

Candidate Profile Academic Background:

You hold or are currently pursuing a degree in Economics, Engineering, a STEM field. Technical Rigor:

Exceptional proficiency in Microsoft Excel. You must possess strong financial modeling skills to confidently evaluate business plans, unit economics, and corporate structures. Technological Edge:

Proven ability to integrate AI applications into daily workflows to streamline complex data analysis. Industry Acumen:

Solid understanding of Venture Capital mechanics and a foundational grasp of Private Equity. Relevant experience in business, finance, or the startup ecosystem is a strong plus. Sector Focus:

A genuine interest in climate innovation and the challenges of the climate crisis. Professional Skills:

Highly organized, detail-oriented, independent, and fluent in English (Italian proficiency is a plus).
