Risk Specialist I, FIRE P, SPIV Other Operations-Var

Fraud Identification Remediation and Enforcement (FIRE) team sits within the Seller Lifecycle Management (SLM) org which is part of broader Selling Partner Identity Verification (SPIV) org. The team investigates seller accounts to understand the identity operating the account and takes necessary actions when we find that the identity is risky and can cause negative downstream customer and/or financial impact to Amazon. We are looking for a Risk Specialist to identify bad actors operating with risky identity and generate insights to help CTPS understand where bad actors are prioritizing their efforts.

Key job responsibilities

- Our ideal candidate should have experience in bad actor investigations, risk mining, identifying new patterns across seller lifecycle, authenticating fraudulent documents, SQL knowledge for risk mining activities and work with data science/analytics team to create heuristic risk models and consistently feed the learnings.

A day in the life

- Provide data analysis and conduct investigations

- Pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, SQL and/or other database) and perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed

- Take appropriate action to identify and help minimize the risk posed by fraud or abuse patterns and trends

- Understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data

- Escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams

- Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed

Basic Qualifications

- Minimum 18 months of CTPS investigations experience as L4 Sr. Investigator, or 12 months of experience in bad actor investigations/risk mining/fraud/abuse/identity risk investigation experience.

- Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to comfortably engage with internal and external customers.

- Leverages team knowledge across several specialty areas to help resolve recurring customer issues. Works with upstream teams to fix gaps. Ability to follow the data wherever it goes and make an accurate decision for comprehensive investigations.

- Has analytics/SQL knowledge. Drives risk mitigation activities, defines requirements, facilitates progress, identifies blockers, and increases the visibility of issues with intent to fix it.

Preferred Qualifications

- 18 months experience in a related fraud, abuse or enforcement team.

- Ability to think beyond the SOP and recommend the right outcome.

- Extensive experience as an L4 Sr. Investigator with strong display of leadership principles.

- Identity document verification experience preferred.
