The Mission Planning System Engineer designs and implements Mission Planning System solutions for the Ground Segment of new satellite constellations, such as Earth Observation and Optical Communications. The role involves generating mission plans and ensuring compliance with mission constraints, including power, thermal, guidance, platform, and payload constraints.
The ideal candidate has 5–7 years of hands‑on experience, works effectively in a team environment, and is familiar with Agile SCRUM methodology.
Responsibilities
Analysing the mission requirements and mission constraints to determine the satellite models to be adopted.
Designing and coordinating the development of software solutions for Mission planning system, also in big constellation scenarios.
Analyzing and integrating external satellite models (e.g. external guidance libraries) into the Mission Planning system.
Contributing to the technical project documentation (such as Requirements Documents, Operations Concept Document, Operations Engineering Plan, User and Administration Manual, Test Procedures, etc.).
Assisting in project reviews if/when required.
Proven knowledge of flight dynamics.
Proven experience in Mission Planning system design and implementation.
Understanding of Software Design Principles.
Knowledge of Programming Languages: Java, Python.
Knowledge of security coding standards (OWASP, CWE/SANS).
Knowledge of Container Orchestration frameworks (Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.).
Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Automation and Information Engineering (5 years) with competences in flight dynamics.
Ph.D. in Aerospace matters is appreciated.
High-level written and verbal English communication skills.
Commitment to quality standards and provisions.
Further Skills
Knowledge of software security mechanisms (encryption, signature).
Experience in multiple technology stacks application development.
Experience in system engineering, design and modelling.
