Job Overview We are seeking a motivated, compassionate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our HIV team. You will provide individualised nursing care for patients with HIV, share your expertise with the multidisciplinary team, and deliver professional leadership, guidance and education to support effective service delivery. Main Duties

Work autonomously as an Clinical Nurse Specialist to deliver specialist clinical care for HIV patients based on research‑based principles. Perform advanced assessments that reflect patients’ social, psychological, emotional and physical needs at initial diagnosis and before initiating or switching antiretroviral therapy. Conduct initial assessments of unwell patients and liaise with or refer to HIV consultants or other MDT members as appropriate. Demonstrate in‑depth understanding of HIV co‑infections and co‑morbidities, screening and monitoring in complex situations. Monitor and review care plans with patients to meet individual needs and involve other MDT members when required. Manage own caseload of HIV patients. Maintain patients’ confidentiality, dignity and respect at all times. Carry out extended skills such as history taking, physical examinations and ordering investigations. Review and interpret investigation and test results. Discuss treatment options with patients to promote adherence to medications and advocate for disclosure of HIV status.

Qualifications

Minimum of a 1st degree in Nursing. Full UK current driving licence. Counselling qualification. STIF NHIVNA core competency. STIF NHIVNA advanced competency.

Skills

Ability to autonomously assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care according to individual needs. Ability to manage own caseload. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team and adapt to clinical/organisational changes. Competence in discussing and managing difficult and sensitive issues with patients, clients and relatives. Good knowledge of nursing professional issues and application of evidence based practice. Evidence of initiating innovations in practice.

Non‑judgemental at all times. Aware of political, gender and cultural issues related to HIV/sexual health. Willing to work outside the hospital environment to engage with patients and community partners. Initiative, sensitivity, empathy and respect for others.
