NEW OPPORTUNITY Role: Senior Project Engineer (BESS) Location: Italy Salary: Market leading salary offer, dependent on experience Piper Maddox are partnered with an incredibly well financed, international energy storage IPP who are expanding their Italian team. They boast an 8.8 GW BESS pipeline, with over 4 GW entering construction. In order to take their Italian pipeline to the next stage, they require a Senior Project Engineer to support in the delivery of utility-scale BESS projects. With a strong pipeline of projects in operation, construction, and development, my client takes a long-term ownership approach — remaining closely involved from early-stage development through to commissioning and asset optimisation. This is a hands-on engineering role within a lean, high-calibre team delivering complex infrastructure at pace. The Opportunity You will support the technical delivery of battery storage projects across Italy, working across development, construction, and commissioning phases. The role requires close collaboration with EPC contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements. The position would suit an engineer who is comfortable taking ownership and working across disciplines. Key Responsibilities

Oversee technical coordination of BESS projects through delivery phases Review and challenge engineering designs and technical documentation Support grid compliance and permitting processes Monitor construction progress, quality standards, and HSE compliance on site Contribute to procurement activities and technical risk reviews Act as a technical interface between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams

About You

Degree-qualified engineer (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, Energy or similar) Experience within renewable energy or infrastructure projects (BESS advantageous) Understanding of HV/MV systems and grid connection requirements, or civil works within energy projects Confident working with engineering drawings and site teams Fluent Italian and strong English communication skills Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-moving environment
