About The Role And Team
We are seeking an experienced Expert in Jewellery (Branded and Unbranded) to support our team of experts and jewellery sellers in Italy, contributing to the growth of Catawiki’s Jewellery auctions.
What You’ll Do
As a Catawiki expert, you will use your specialist knowledge to be responsible for creating attractive auctions by evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our sellers.
Review the lot titles, descriptions, pictures, and provide users with an estimated and realistic value based on this information.
Maintain transparent and fair user transactions; interact professionally with sellers to ensure exceptional auctions that bidders will find irresistible.
Collaborate with our sales department to recruit and develop new sellers and diversify the selection of lots offered in your auctions.
Work with our marketing department to generate increased bidder attention at your auctions.
What You'll Bring
A Gemmology Diploma from schools recognised by the FEEG or GIA
5–10 years’ experience in the jewellery, diamonds or precious stones trade with knowledge of the market and the ability to perform gemmological and authentication tests
Project management capabilities, with proven experience partnering closely with cross-functional teams to drive complex initiatives
Good grasp of market prices and understanding of jewellery second-hand market and B2B and B2C dynamics
Experience in appraising and assessing jewellery
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions
Extensive trade knowledge with a network of potential sellers and experts in your field
Team player with excellent communication and negotiation skills
Proficiency with data analysis, reporting and presentations tools (e.g., Excel or Google Sheets, PowerPoint or Google Slides)
Diplomatic competence to mediate disputes between users
Fluent English; Italian is a plus
