Job Summary The MIS & Costing Manager is responsible for cost accounting, product costing, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting to support strategic decision-making in a chemical manufacturing environment. The role ensures accurate cost allocation, inventory valuation, process costing, and performance monitoring across production units. Key Responsibilities 1. Cost Accounting & Product Costing Develop and maintain standard costing systems for chemical products. Calculate product-wise cost sheets (raw materials, utilities, labor, overheads). Monitor batch-wise / process-wise costing. Conduct variance analysis (Material, Labor, Overhead, Yield). Analyze BOM (Bill of Materials) and update cost structures regularly. Work closely with production, procurement, and R&D teams for cost optimization. 2. Inventory & Manufacturing Cost Control Monitor raw material, WIP, and finished goods valuation. Ensure proper absorption of overheads. Reconcile physical stock with book records. Monitor slow-moving and obsolete inventory. Track utility consumption (steam, power, water, fuel) cost impact. 3. MIS & Reporting Prepare monthly MIS reports (Production, Sales, Costing, Profitability). Prepare plant performance reports and KPI dashboards. Provide contribution margin analysis and product profitability reports. Present financial and operational insights to management. Automate reporting processes using ERP systems. 4. Budgeting & Forecasting Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts. Compare actual vs budget and highlight deviations. Support management in strategic planning and cost reduction initiatives. 5. Compliance & Internal Controls Ensure compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. Coordinate with internal and external auditors. Strengthen internal controls in costing and inventory management. 6. ERP & Systems Management Manage costing modules in ERP (SAP/Oracle/Tally or industry-specific ERP). Ensure accurate master data (BOM, routing, cost centres). Lead system improvements and automation initiatives. Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of process costing (critical in chemical manufacturing). Expertise in cost sheet preparation and variance analysis. Advanced Excel skills and ERP proficiency. Analytical mindset with attention to detail. Strong coordination skills with plant and production teams. Knowledge of inventory management and supply chain costing. Understanding of chemical production processes (batch/continuous).
