Role Overview
The Director of Quality Assurance & Testing is a senior leadership role responsible for
defining, executing, and continuously improving the quality strategy
across all client engagements and internal platforms. This role combines
hands-on technical expertise
with
strong people leadership ,
delivery accountability , and
operational ownership
of the QA function for the offshore Bangalore office.
The individual will lead QA teams supporting global clients, ensure
predictable quality outcomes , build automation-first frameworks, and act as a trusted partner to engineering, product, DevOps, and client stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Governance
Own and execute the
overall QA and testing strategy
across projects, products, and platforms.
Establish
quality governance, standards, metrics, and best practices
for offshore delivery.
Act as the
single point of accountability
for QA outcomes from the Bangalore offshore center.
Align QA strategy with business goals, client SLAs, and delivery commitments.
Hands-On Technical Leadership
Remain
actively involved
in architecture decisions, automation frameworks, and complex testing challenges.
Define and implement
automation-first testing strategies
(UI, API, integration, performance, security).
Drive adoption of
modern testing tools, CI/CD integration, and shift-left testing
practices.
Provide expert guidance on test data management, environment strategy, and release readiness.
Offshore Delivery & Team Management
Build, mentor, and scale high-performing QA teams across manual, automation, performance, and specialized testing.
Own
capacity planning, skill development, utilization, and performance management
for QA teams.
Establish strong
offshore operating rhythm
(stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, reporting).
Ensure seamless collaboration with onshore stakeholders and client teams.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with clients, engineering leaders, and delivery managers to define quality expectations.
Participate in client reviews, escalations, and executive discussions related to quality and delivery.
Translate client requirements into
clear quality plans and measurable outcomes .
Build trust through transparency, proactive risk management, and consistent delivery excellence.
Process, Metrics & Continuous Improvement
Define and track
quality KPIs
(defect leakage, automation coverage, test effectiveness, cycle time).
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve release velocity, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and industry standards as applicable.
Required Qualifications
Experience
15+ years
of experience in Quality Assurance & Testing.
5+ years
in a senior leadership role (Director / Head of QA / QA Practice Lead).
Proven experience managing
offshore QA teams in India for global clients , preferably Bangalore.
Strong background in services, product engineering, or digital transformation environments.
Technical Expertise
Deep hands-on experience in:
Test automation (UI, API, backend)
CI/CD pipelines and DevOps integration
Agile / Scrum / SAFe methodologies
Performance, security, and integration testing
Strong understanding of modern tech stacks (web, mobile, cloud, APIs, microservices).
Experience with tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, REST-assured, JMeter, Postman, TestNG, or similar.
Leadership & Soft Skills
Proven ability to
lead, inspire, and hold teams accountable .
Strong communication skills with both technical and executive stakeholders.
Ability to balance
hands-on involvement
with strategic leadership.
Experience working with US / global clients and distributed teams.
High level of ownership, integrity, and delivery mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience setting up or scaling a QA CoE (Center of Excellence).
Exposure to regulated domains (healthcare, finance, enterprise SaaS) is a plus.
Certifications such as ISTQB, Agile, or DevOps are beneficial.
