Lead Firmware Engineer — Powerwall Control

📍 India

Renewable Energy Power Generation Arkahub

Job Description

About Arkahub:

Arkahub is a full-stack home energy company building consumer-grade energy products designed specifically for Indian households. We believe the Indian home deserves energy solutions engineered for how Indian grids actually behave — not adapted from hardware designed for stable European or American infrastructure. Our platform enables households to generate, store, and intelligently manage power through a single system: one that handles the complexity of unreliable grids, volatile tariffs, and rising appliance loads so the homeowner doesn’t have to. Over time, this intelligence compounds — homes that run on Arkahub can automatically optimise electricity costs as time-of-day pricing expands, protect appliances from the voltage swings that damage modern electronics, and participate in emerging energy networks that turn every connected home into a node in a smarter, cleaner grid. We’re building the platform that turns residential energy from a grudge purchase into a product you trust for 25 years. Backed by KAE Capital, Sparrow Capital, and Antler.

What You’ll Own •

Own the technical direction of all firmware and control algorithms running inside Arkahub’s energy products — from the inner current loop through to the cloud-connected mode manager, working directly with the founding team •

Implement real-time inverter control: current and voltage regulation loops, grid synchronisation, and seamless mode transitions that let the system switch between grid-tied, backup, and standalone operation within a single AC cycle •

Build the grid-tracking intelligence that keeps the system locked to Indian grid conditions — including the harmonic distortion, frequency variation, and transient events that are routine on Indian feeders •

Develop the energy conversion control for the battery interface: bidirectional power flow, soft-switching management, and efficiency optimisation across the full load range •

Implement solar maximum power point tracking across multiple input channels •

Write the complete Indian grid compliance firmware: voltage and frequency protection windows, reconnection sequencing, anti-islanding, ground fault discrimination, and adaptive load management •

Own the safety-critical protection layer: hardware fault detection, battery disconnect supervision, relay health monitoring, thermal derating, secure boot, and over-the-air update infrastructure •

Design the firmware architecture for long-term extensibility — the same codebase must support product evolution into storage, home energy management, and grid-interactive capabilities

What You Bring •

8–10 years in embedded firmware for power electronics, with 3+ years writing real-time control loops for inverters, motor drives, or energy storage systems •

Implemented at least one phase-locked loop for grid synchronisation on a microcontroller •

Hands-on experience with STM32 (HRTIM, advanced timers, DMA-driven ADC) or equivalent real-time microcontroller platforms (TI C2000, Infineon XMC) •

Written current or voltage regulators at ≥10kHz update rate with measured stability margins •

Experience with safety-critical embedded practices: awareness of MISRA-C, static analysis, structured fault-tree testing •

Comfortable with oscilloscope-based control loop debugging: step response, current probes, real-time Bode analysis

Bonus Points •

Experience writing firmware for inverters, energy storage systems, or EV chargers deployed on the Indian grid •

Familiarity with Indian grid standards (IS 16221, IEC 62116) and anti-islanding implementation •

DC-DC converter control experience (phase-shift modulation, ZVS optimisation) and RTOS for mixed-criticality systems
