Job Description

Job Summary: A strategic procurement professional who takes full ownership of end-to-end sourcing of APIs, intermediates, excipients, and packaging materials across Commercial (Business Development) and R&D functions. This is a high-impact role responsible for vendor governance, cost optimization, supply assurance, regulatory compliance, and supporting New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. Key Responsibilities 1. Direct Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Manage procurement of direct materials: APIs, intermediates, excipients, and packaging materials for commercial and development requirements. Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with quality, regulatory, and financial objectives. Identify and onboard alternate/secondary sources to mitigate supply risks. Manage the complete vendor lifecycle across domestic and global supplier bases. 2. Budgeting, Cost Optimization & Commercial Ownership Own procurement budgets and monthly forecasting for direct categories. Drive cost savings through: Cost modeling Vendor consolidation Strategic negotiations Long-term contracting Value engineering initiatives Collaborate with Finance and Supply Chain teams to monitor cost variances and ensure budget adherence. 3. Supplier Management & Quality Compliance Develop and maintain Supplier Quality Agreements (SQAs). Ensure SOP adherence and regulatory compliance (GMP, cGMP, FDA, SEZ/EOU). Lead vendor audits, supplier performance reviews, and scorecard management. Conduct commercial due diligence and implement vendor diversification strategies to mitigate risk. 4. Support for New Product Development (NPD) Partner with R&D, Regulatory Affairs (RA), Manufacturing, and Commercial teams during: Development phase Tech transfer Scale-up activities Ensure timely availability of trial materials, validation batches, and regulatory documentation. Proactively plan sourcing for new formulations and backward integration initiatives. 5. SOPs, Documentation & Reporting Maintain procurement SOPs and documentation to ensure audit readiness. Utilize SAP MM for: Vendor master management PO processing & tracking Spend analytics & dashboards Generate reports on: Spend analysis Savings realization Lead times Procurement KPIs Skills & Competencies Required Procurement Systems:

Ensure timely availability of trial batches, validation materials, and regulatory documentation. Proactively plan procurement for new formulations or backward integration initiatives. 5. SOPs, Documentation & Reporting Maintain procurement SOPs and documentation for audit readiness. Use ERP SAP MM to manage procurement operations, vendor masters, PO tracking, and dashboards. Generate reports on spend analysis, savings, sourcing lead times, and procurement KPIs.
