What we are looking for

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic technology leader to help with the development of our Schneider Electric’s corporate Building Management System (BMS) platform. We are seeking a talented ‘hands on’ manager to join our development department in Bangalore. As a member of our R&D organization you will work closely with other development teams locally and globally. Our state-of-the-art platform provides foundational technology to enable the digitization of a range of solutions that allows customers manage Buildings in a better way.

About the Role

We’re looking for a software manager to lead the team, own the design and deliver features for our EcoStruxure Building Platform —an enterprise software that powers energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and next-gen workplace experiences. You’ll work across the stack, from edge to cloud, leveraging modern technologies, containerized solutions, and Azure services to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. You will ensure software engineering best practices are followed while being responsive in a dynamic and iterative Agile development setting.

Responsibilities

- Minimum of 15 years in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in Software delivery leadership.

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

- Design & Develop: Build and maintain C++, .NET C# applications, APIs (REST & GraphQL), and microservices.

- Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), Microservices, Kafka Streams and CI/CD pipelines.

- Cloud Integration: Develop solutions using Azure services such as Function Apps, Event Hubs, IoT Hubs, Azure Data Explorer (KQL), SQL Server, and Application Insights.

- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams.

- Advanced verbal and written communication skills including the ability to explain and present technical concepts to a diverse set of audiences.

- Good judgment, time management, and decision-making skills.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Willingness to work outside documented job description. Has a “Go Getter” attitude.

- Collaborate: Work closely with DevOps, Product, and QA teams to deliver high-quality, secure, and scalable features.

- Innovate: Explore and implement IoT and Building Automation integrations (MQTT, BACnet, Modbus).

- Up-to-date knowledge of technology trends and industry standards.

Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

- Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for growth and development.

- Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members.

Technical Leadership

- Define and maintain high engineering standards, best practices, and coding guidelines.

- Participate in technical design reviews and code reviews to ensure the quality and maintainability of the codebase.

- Participate in architectural design for driving platforming and other convergence initiatives.

- Drive technical innovation and explore new technologies to improve team efficiency and product quality.

Project Management

- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

- Track project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.

- Manage project budgets and resources effectively.

Communication and Collaboration

- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, design, QA) to ensure alignment and smooth project execution.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization.

- Represent the engineering team in various meetings and forums.

Continuous Improvement

- Continuously evaluate and improve team processes and workflows.

- Identify and implement opportunities to improve team productivity, efficiency, and morale.

- Stay up to date on the latest industry trends and technologies.

Tools & Project Management

- Hands on experience of Atlassian Jira & Confluence Cloud, GitHub Enterprise, and Azure DevOps.

- Experienced professional working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and Scaled Agile (SAFe) mode.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

- Prior experience in the energy sector or industrial automation is advantageous.
