Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented UK Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial processing within Sage. This is a hands-on role requiring strong reconciliation skills, accuracy, and the confidence to liaise with external VAT advisers and accountants.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing bank transactions, coordinating UK and European VAT requirements, and supporting finance system activities including Sage and NetSuite.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day financial processing in Sage (Sage 50 or equivalent)
- Process and post bank transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Allocate receipts and payments
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations
- Coordinate UK VAT submissions and support European VAT registrations and compliance
- Liaise confidently with external VAT advisers and accountants
- Assist with NetSuite-related finance processes where required
- Support wider banking activities and payment runs
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure audit readiness
- Assist with month-end processes as required
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 yearsโ experience as a UK Bookkeeper
- Strong working knowledge of Sage (Sage 50 or similar)
- Solid understanding of UK VAT rules and compliance requirements
- Experience coordinating VAT submissions, including European registrations
- Proven experience processing bank transactions and payment allocations
- Strong reconciliation skills (bank and control accounts)
- Experience liaising with external accountants or VAT advisers
- Good Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables preferred)
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Desirable (But Not Essential)
- Experience using NetSuite
- Experience working in a multi-entity or international environment
- Exposure to audit preparation
