Role Overview
Vaksindo Animal Health India is seeking a highly skilled
Mechanical Engineer
with substantial experience in
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP)
systems management. This hybrid role will initially function as the
Project Manager
overseeing the installation and commissioning of all sophisticated
Electrical Mechanical Systems (EMS)
—including HVAC, utilities, electrical power, and cleanroom services—for our new vaccine factory.
Following the factory's successful commissioning, the role will transition into a permanent leadership position as the
EMS Department Head
, responsible for the continuous, compliant, and efficient operation, maintenance, and utility management of these critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Phase 1: Project Management (Construction & Commissioning)
MEP/EMS System Oversight:
Serve as the overall project coordinator for the
Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), and Utility systems
(collectively, EMS/MEP) integration within the civil structure.
Design Review & Coordination:
Review and approve EMS/MEP detailed designs, shop drawings, and installation plans to ensure alignment with civil works, structural capacity, and strict
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
cleanroom requirements.
Contractor Management:
Oversee and manage specialist EMS/MEP subcontractors, ensuring quality installation, adherence to project specifications, and strict compliance with local codes and safety standards.
Budget & Schedule Control:
Manage the EMS/MEP project budget, procurement of long-lead items, and detailed schedule, coordinating tie-ins and shutdowns with other construction disciplines.
Commissioning & Qualification:
Lead the
Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) , commissioning, and system qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) efforts for all critical HVAC, electrical, and utility systems necessary for vaccine production.
Documentation:
Ensure comprehensive final documentation, including As-Built drawings, Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and regulatory approvals for all EMS/MEP systems.
Phase 2: EMS Department Head (Operations & Maintenance)
System Reliability:
Take full ownership of the factory's EMS/MEP systems, ensuring their
24/7 reliability and performance
to maintain critical manufacturing environments (e.g., temperature, humidity, differential pressure).
Maintenance Strategy:
Develop and manage the
Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)
and predictive maintenance programs for all mechanical and electrical assets, optimizing for minimal downtime and cost.
Utility Management:
Monitor and manage the consumption and efficiency of all utilities (electricity, water, steam, compressed air), driving cost-saving and energy-efficiency initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all EMS/MEP operations and maintenance activities comply with local electrical, boiler, and factory codes, as well as strict GMP maintenance standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead, train, and manage the in-house team of electrical and mechanical technicians and engineers.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering
is mandatory.
Experience:
Minimum of
10 years
of progressive experience, with at least 3 years directly managing
MEP/EMS systems construction and commissioning
for industrial or pharmaceutical facilities.
Industry Expertise:
Proven experience with
cleanroom HVAC systems, utility plants (e.g., purified water, WFI, boiler/chiller), and high-reliability electrical distribution
is highly preferred, especially in a GMP environment like Injectable pharma or biopharma or vaccine companies.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong foundation in both Civil Engineering principles and practical knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical system installation and operation.
Certifications (Preferred):
PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent, and/or relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical safety, or utility operations.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional leadership, inter-disciplinary coordination, and problem-solving skills required to manage complex construction interfaces and critical utility systems.
