Regent Biochem
supplies manual and automatic industrial parts cleaning systems , supported by application engineering, installation, commissioning, and after-sales service. Complementing its machines business, the company operates a chemical manufacturing facility in Coimbatore,
producing cleaning, surface protection, welding, and lubrication solutions using German technology.
By integrating machines, services, and in-house manufactured chemicals, Regent Biochem delivers end-to-end, performance-driven solutions that enhance process efficiency, reliability, and long-term operational performance across diverse industrial sectors.
As part of its long-term strategy, the company is building capabilities to
manufacture industrial cleaning machines in India , reinforcing its commitment to localization, faster service responsiveness, and scalable growth of the Machines Vertical.
Position Overview:
The
Sales Engineer
is responsible
for new customer acquisition and early-stage opportunity conversion
by identifying the right industries, customer segments, and prospects for Regent Biochem’s products and solutions. This is a
field-intensive, customer-facing role
focused on prospecting, customer engagement, requirement understanding, product demonstrations/trials, opportunity qualification, and deal closure.
The role requires a
solution-selling mindset , where the executive is expected to engage customers on process challenges, recommend appropriate chemical programs, systems, or services, and work closely with internal teams to convert opportunities into sustainable business.
Work Location:
Chennai and Coimbatore (Field travel required within the assigned territory)
Key Responsibilities:
New Customer Acquisition & Targeting:
Identify and prioritize target industries, customer segments, and geographies aligned with Regent Bio-Chem’s offerings. Prepare structured prospect lists covering factories, industrial clusters, utilities, and channel partners. Identify and engage key decision makers such as Owners, Plant Heads, Utility Heads, Maintenance Heads, and Purchase teams.
Lead Generation & Prospecting:
Build and maintain a continuous sales pipeline through cold calls, field visits, referrals, industrial exhibitions, trade events, and digital platforms such as LinkedIn. Ensure consistent prospecting discipline and pipeline health.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Building:
Initiate first contact, fix meetings with decision makers, and communicate a clear value proposition. Build credibility through understanding of customer processes and challenges. Establish trust-based relationships with new customers.
Customer Requirement Understanding:
Understand customer pain points, operating conditions, constraints, budget, and timelines. Collect complete technical and commercial inputs to ensure correct solution recommendation. Map requirements to suitable chemical programs, systems, or service models.
Product Demonstration & Trial Execution:
Plan, coordinate, and execute product demonstrations and site trials. Work with internal teams to arrange samples, demo kits, and technical support. Explain features, benefits, ROI, and differentiation versus alternatives. Capture customer feedback and define next steps toward conversion.
Opportunity Qualification & Pipeline Management:
Evaluate opportunities based on need, seriousness, authority, budget, and timeline. Classify leads appropriately and focus effort on high-potential opportunities. Maintain structured follow-ups until logical closure.
Coordination with Back-End Sales & Technical Teams:
Submit accurate and complete requirement details for quotation preparation. Ensure technical and commercial clarity between customer expectations and internal proposals. Coordinate for clarifications and timely customer responses.
Objection Handling & Negotiation Support:
Handle objections related to pricing, ROI, competition, service capability, and delivery timelines. Support back-end teams during negotiations when required and reinforce customer confidence in Regent Bio-Chem’s solution capability.
Closing & Order Conversion:
Drive conversion of approved quotations into Purchase Orders. Collect required documentation, support advance payment coordination, and ensure smooth handover for execution and service delivery.
Sales Planning, Reporting & Performance Tracking:
Prepare weekly activity plans covering calls, visits, demos, and trials. Maintain daily reporting in CRM or Excel. Track and improve conversion metrics from lead to meeting, quotation, and order.
Market Intelligence & Feedback:
Gather insights on competitor offerings, pricing, and positioning. Share structured market feedback with management to support continuous improvement in products, pricing, and go-to-market strategy.
Qualifications:
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics / Instrumentation (preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered).
2–4 years of experience in B2B field sales or application-oriented roles involving:
Industrial machines or small capital goods (e.g., compressors, pumps, cleaning systems, utilities equipment), and/or
Industrial chemicals, consumables, or solution-led industrial products sold to manufacturing or process industries.
Exposure to solution selling involving site visits, requirement understanding, demonstrations, trials, or application discussions is strongly preferred.
Working understanding of industrial equipment and plant environments
Basic working knowledge of electrical and control elements used in industrial systems (such as motors, sensors, panels, safety interlocks) is an advantage.
Exposure to pneumatics, automation elements, or machine-assisted processes is desirable but not mandatory.
Ability to understand customer processes and translate technical features into customer value, ROI, and operational benefits.
Strong customer-facing communication skills, with confidence to engage plant heads, maintenance teams, and purchase stakeholders.
Target-driven mindset with discipline in follow-ups, opportunity qualification, and closure.
Comfort with field-intensive roles, including frequent customer visits, demos, and trials.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to resolving technical, service, and business challenges
Comfort with maintaining accurate opportunity, activity, and pipeline data in CRM / sales tracking systems
Familiarity with manufacturing or process industries, and exposure to utilities such as boilers, cooling towers, RO, heat exchangers, injection moulding or industrial cleaning processes, will be an added advantage. (Not a mandatory)
Candidates with exposure to selling industrial systems, machines, or solution-led engineering products will be preferred.
