Job Title: Compliance Associate
Location: Bangalore, India
Job Type: Full-Time
Experience Required: 2-4 years
(NBFC / FinTech / Financial Services).
Purpose of the Role
The Compliance Associate will support the establishment and effective functioning of the compliance framework for the NBFC. The role will ensure adherence to regulatory requirements issued by the
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) , applicable laws, and internal policies, while proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks across lending products, digital platforms, and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements applicable to NBFCs including
RBI Master Directions ,
Scale-Based Regulatory Framework ,
KYC/AML guidelines ,
Fair Practices Code , and
Digital Lending Guidelines .
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining a
Board-approved Compliance Policy , Compliance Manual, Codes of Conduct, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Track and analyse regulatory updates from the
Reserve Bank of India ,
Financial Intelligence Unit – India , and
Ministry of Corporate Affairs , and coordinate timely implementation across departments.
2. Compliance Risk Management
Identify and assess compliance risks across products, lending operations, digital platforms, outsourcing arrangements, and partnerships.
Participate in
new product approvals and change-management processes
to ensure regulatory compliance prior to launch.
Support the design and execution of a
risk-based compliance monitoring program , including periodic testing of key processes.
3. Policies, Processes & Internal Controls
Review internal policies, customer documentation, loan agreements, marketing materials, and operational processes to ensure regulatory compliance before implementation.
Evaluate internal controls across the lending lifecycle including
customer onboarding, underwriting, loan disbursal, servicing, collections, recovery, and vendor management .
Recommend control improvements and remediation measures where compliance gaps are identified.
4. Regulatory Reporting & Inspections
Prepare and submit
regulatory filings, returns, and compliance certifications
required by the
Reserve Bank of India
and other authorities.
Maintain proper documentation and records to support
regulatory inspections and audits .
Assist in responding to regulatory queries and ensuring timely closure of inspection observations.
5. Compliance Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
Prepare periodic compliance reports highlighting key risks, regulatory developments, breaches, and remediation status.
Support reporting to senior management and the Board on compliance matters.
Coordinate with internal teams including
risk, legal, operations, and product
to embed compliance into day-to-day processes.
Skills & Qualifications
Graduate or Postgraduate degree in
Law, Finance, Commerce, or related field .
2–4 years of relevant experience
in Compliance within an
NBFC, FinTech, or financial services organization .
Preferred:
LLB / Company Secretary (CS) qualification.
Working knowledge of the
NBFC regulatory framework issued by the Reserve Bank of India .
Exposure to
regulatory filings, audits, or RBI inspections
is an advantage.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify compliance risks and recommend practical solutions.
High ethical standards, independence, and ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
