Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Chemical Cost Accountant located in Mumbai. In this role, the candidate will handle cost accounting tasks including analyzing production costs, preparing and maintaining cost reports, and ensuring accurate allocation of expenses. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, budgeting, and conducting deep analysis to support decision-making. The role also involves managing journal entries, monitoring cost variances, and providing insights to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Weekly visit to Factories
Product & Process Costing:
Prepare and maintain detailed batch-wise, process-wise, and product-wise cost sheets; monitor standard costs, conversion costs, overhead absorption, and support pricing decisions based on cost structures and contribution margins.
Cost Control & Optimization:
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across raw materials, utilities, manpower, and production processes; analyze yield losses, evaporation losses, by-product credits, and process efficiencies.
Raw Material & Inventory Management:
Track high-value raw materials, solvents, catalysts, and packaging materials; ensure accurate WIP, finished goods, by-product, and scrap valuation; conduct material reconciliation and support stock verification.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and standard costing; conduct detailed variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget vs. Standard) and highlight key cost drivers.
MIS & Management Reporting:
Prepare monthly/quarterly costing MIS, plant performance dashboards, and profitability reports at product, customer, and segment levels; present insights to management.
Financial & Commercial Analysis:
Perform cost-benefit analysis for CAPEX proposals, new formulations, plant trials, and strategic initiatives; support financial modeling and business decision-making.
Audit & Statutory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and statutory cost audit requirements; support preparation of Cost Audit Reports (CAR) and coordinate with statutory, internal, and tax auditors.
ERP & Systems Management:
Maintain and optimize costing modules in SAP CO / Oracle / D365 / Tally ERP; ensure accurate BOM, recipe mapping, routing, and periodic cost runs; support automation and digital initiatives.
Process Improvement & Controls:
Analyze operational inefficiencies, strengthen internal controls across costing and inventory functions, and support Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with production, R&D, procurement, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate costing, improve operational performance, and drive profitability.
