JOB PURPOSE
Hands-on .NET Architect to lead the design and build of a low-latency, production-grade FIX engine and connectivity layer for front-office trading workflows. You will own architecture decisions, performance engineering, and delivery of FIX connectivity integrating venues and platforms such as Bloomberg TOMS, Tradeweb, and downstream middle/back-office systems.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
7+ years in software engineering with strong experience in .NET / C# and architecture ownership.
Proven experience building FIX protocol integrations (FIX 4.2/4.4/5.0), including sequencing, session state, replay/resend, and drop-copy concepts.
Strong understanding of capital markets trading workflows (RFQ, order/execution lifecycle, allocations, post-trade flows).
Experience with low-latency engineering: profiling, GC tuning, latency benchmarking, and high-performance orchestration.
Solid experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and fault-tolerant design.
Strong knowledge of security in financial systems (TLS, certs, secure configuration, secrets management)
DOMAIN & NICE-TO-HAVE EXPERIENCE
Direct integration experience with Bloomberg TOMS and/or Tradeweb connectivity patterns.
Familiarity with FIX engines/libraries (e.g., QuickFIX/QuickFIXn or equivalent) and when to extend vs build.
Experience with Kafka, MQ, Redpanda.
Linux + containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and production operations in on-prem / hybrid environments.
gRPC, WebSockets, or binary protocols for internal distribution.
Cloud exposure (Azure/AWS), especially for observability and secure networking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Architect and deliver a scalable FIX connectivity platform (client/server, initiator/acceptor) supporting multiple counterparties and venues.
Define hot-path performance patterns (zero/low allocations, object pooling, efficient parsing/encoding, deterministic latency).
Build session management, message routing, sequencing, resend/replay, and store-and-forward mechanisms aligned to FIX standards.
Implement message normalization and canonical domain models (orders, RFQs, executions, allocations).
Integrate with trading platforms/venues (e.g., Bloomberg TOMS, Tradeweb) and internal systems via FIX and/or messaging layers (Kafka, MQ.).
Establish secure connectivity (TLS, cert management, key rotation), auditability, and full observability (metrics, tracing, log correlation).
Define HA/DR architecture (active-active / active-passive), failover strategy, and resilience testing.
Own engineering standards: code reviews, performance benchmarks, capacity planning, release automation, and runbooks.
Mentor engineers and collaborate with product, trading, and operations stakeholders.
BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
Effectively communicate with business and technology partners, peers and stakeholders
Ability to deliver results under demanding timelines to real-world business problems
Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively
Identify and communicate areas for improvement
Demonstrate high attention to detail, should work in a dynamic environment whilst maintaining high quality
standards, a natural aptitude to develop good internal working relationships and a flexible work ethic
Responsible for Quality Checks and adhering to the agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) / Turn Around Time
