5+ years (Senior)
At Altair, we are advancing frontier technologies across advanced sensing, autonomy, precision controls, and next-generation airborne systems. Our engineering teams support high-performance solutions for Unmanned helicopters, UAV/UDA platforms, and other aerospace and defence systems.
Role Summary
We are seeking an Expert Analog Hardware Engineer with deep experience in designing, simulating, and validating high-performance analog and mixed-signal electronic systems. The candidate will lead product-level hardware architecture, own critical analog blocks, and guide junior engineers while working closely with cross-functional teams in digital, firmware, RF, and mechanical engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Analog & Mixed-Signal Circuit Design
Design and optimize analog building blocks such as:
precision amplifiers (op-amps, instrumentation, transimpedance, low-noise)
ADC/DAC front-ends and signal-conditioning circuits
filters (active/passive, low-noise, anti-aliasing, reconstruction)
power stages (DC-DC, linear regulators, low-noise supplies)
sensor interfaces (bridge, piezo, current/voltage sensing)
Develop architectures for low-noise, low-distortion, and high-accuracy circuits.
Simulation & Analysis
Perform SPICE simulations (AC, transient, noise, Monte-Carlo, corner analysis).
Conduct signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), and noise analysis.
Model real-world component behavior (parasitics, temperature effects, tolerances).
Hardware Development
Create complete schematics, BOMs, and documentation.
Work with PCB layout engineers;
provide guidelines for:
grounding schemes
high-speed/low-noise routing
impedance control
thermal design
isolation and safety compliance
Perform worst-case analysis and derating for reliability.
Prototyping & Validation
Bring-up and debug boards using:
oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, logic analyzers
precision DMMs, SMUs, network analyzers
Validate performance vs. design specifications.
Conduct design verification testing (DVT) and root-cause analysis of issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with embedded firmware and digital hardware teams.
Support manufacturing and production test development.
Review component choices for supply chain resiliency and cost optimization.
Compliance & Certification
Ensure designs comply with EMI/EMC, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards:
IEC/UL standards
CISPR/EN noise emission standards
ESD/Surge/ESD immunity
Support certification processes with test labs.
Required Qualifications
Masterโs or PhD in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
5+ years proven experience in analog/mixed-signal hardware design.
Strong expertise in:
analog circuit theory
low-noise design
precision measurement systems
power electronics fundamentals
Deep understanding of real-world effects: EMI/EMC, grounding, parasitics, layout impacts.
Hands-on experience with lab test equipment.
Proficiency in schematic & simulation tools (e.G., Altium, OrCAD, LTspice, PSpice).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high-voltage/high-power analog systems.
Experience with RF front-ends or high-speed ADCs/DACs.
Experience designing for harsh or industrial environments and military environments.
Familiarity with Python/Matlab for test automation.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
Excellent documentation and communication.
Ability to independently drive complex hardware projects.
Attention to detail and passion for high-quality engineering.
