Role Overview:
The Chief Engineer will be responsible for overseeing end-to-end engineering operations for hotel properties, ensuring optimal functionality of all MEP systems, safety compliance, preventive maintenance, and smooth day-to-day technical operations. This role plays a critical part in pre-opening projects as well as ongoing asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
1)Pre-Opening Phase:
โ Oversee MEP installations, testing, commissioning, and snag rectification.
โ Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and vendors to ensure timely delivery of all engineering works.
โ Prepare engineering SOPs, checklists, and preventive maintenance schedules.
โ Assess and approve all engineering-related material, equipment, and AMC requirements.
โ Conduct pre-opening safety audits (fire, electrical, HVAC, STP/WTP, etc.) Engineering Operations.
โ Manage daily hotel engineering operations including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
โ Ensure uninterrupted services (power, water, gas, safety systems) across the property.
โ Lead preventive and corrective maintenance activities for all equipment.
โ Monitor and optimize HLP (Heat, Light & Power) consumption across the property.
โ Ensure 100% compliance with safety, legal, and statutory requirements.
2) Team Management:
โ Lead, train, and mentor the engineering team.
โ Ensure timely rostering, work allocation, and skill development.
โ Establish a culture of safety, accountability, and high standards. Vendor & AMC Management
โ Manage all engineering vendors and service contracts.
โ Prepare and monitor AMC schedules, renewals, and performance.
โ Ensure cost-effective engineering operations without compromising quality. Emergency & Safety Management
โ Take full responsibility for the hotelโs emergency preparedness (fire systems, alarms, panels, hydrants).
โ Lead emergency drills and safety training.
โ Handle technical breakdowns with quick decision-making and minimal downtime.
3) Educational & Skill Requirements:
โ BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering (Mandatory)
โ Strong technical knowledge of: โ HVAC Systems โ Fire Safety Systems โ Electrical Panels & Load Distribution โ STP/WTP Operations โ Preventive Maintenance Systems
โ Ability to handle 100+ rooms or multiple sites preferred.
โ Strong budget planning, cost control, and vendor management skills.
4) Experience Requirements:
โ 8-10 years of hospitality engineering experience.
โ Prior experience as Assistant Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer in 4/5-star hotel chains such as Lemon Tree, Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, etc.
โ Experience with Pre-opening properties is highly preferred.
