About the Role : A GIS Developer with experience in ocean and satellite data applications to design, develop and automate geospatial workflows. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in satellite data processing, algorithm development, workflow automation using Docker, and building web-based GIS applications.

Responsibilities : Ocean data processing and algorithm development Develop and implement algorithms for Ocean Color Index (OCI) and related marine parameters. Process satellite imagery using remote sensing tools. Perform atmospheric correction and derive oceanographic products such as Chlorophyll-a, turbidity, and water quality indicators. Workflow Automation Design automated processing pipelines for satellite data ingestion, processing, and output generation. Containerize workflow using Docker for scalable and reproducible deployments. Optimize processing performance and manage large geospatial datasets.

GIS and Spatial Data Management Manage marine geospatial datasets from satellites, models and in-situ sources. Develop spatial data pipelines, quality control procedures, and data integration workflows. Work with raster and vector geospatial data formats.

Web Application Development and system integration deployment Hands on experience in dealing with web-based GIS applications, dashboards, and integrating geospatial services with web mapping platforms. Deploy applications on cloud or server environments. Ensure scalability, performance and security of GIS systems.

Qualifications : Master’s degree in GIS, Oceanography, Computer Science or related field. Understanding of oceanography and marine remote sensing concepts. Familiarity with ocean satellite datasets (e.g., Sentinel, MODIS, Ocean sat, Hyperspectral data, Very High-resolution satellite (Planet scope)). Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience working with large-scale geospatial data pipelines.

Required Skills : Strong expertise in Python for geospatial and remote sensing applications. Hands-on experience with ACOLITE for Ocean color processing. Experience in Docker and workflow automation. Knowledge of GIS tools and libraries (ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL, Rasterio, xarray). Understanding REST APIs and backend frameworks and experience in web development (JavaScript, Leaflet, Map box or ArcGIS APIs).
