Our client, one of the world’s leading ship management companies, is seeking an experienced Crewing Manager to oversee crewing operations for its fleet based in Mumbai. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient crew management across assigned vessels.

ORGANISATION
You will be responsible for ensuring the crewing success and operational efficiency of vessels under management. You will oversee crew operations from start to finish, focusing on performance, regulatory compliance, and coordination across teams. The role requires strong leadership and strategic thinking to enhance efficiency, maintain safety standards, and improve crew competency.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage end-to-end crewing operations for assigned vessels
Ensure vessels are manned with qualified, competent, and compliant crew in line with flag state, STCW, MLC, and company requirements
Oversee crew planning, recruitment, retention, deployment, and performance management
Monitor crew certification, training matrix, and competency standards
Support vessels during audits, inspections and incidents
Drive crew retention strategies and maintain a strong pool of officers and ratings
Control crew budgets and optimise manning costs
Collaborate closely with Marine, Technical, HSEQ, and Training departments
Maintain strong relationships with manning offices and international crew sources
YOUR PROFILE
Graduate in Navigation or marine Engineering or related field.
Sailing experience as Master or Chief Engineer in merchant vessels is a must.
You have more than 3 years of shore based crewing experience
In-depth understanding of maritime regulations, industry standards, and crew management best practices.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to upholding safety and compliance standards.
You are able to work in fast paced environment, dedicated to anticipating and mitigate risk, and aim for exceptional standards in whatever you do.
Your experience has prepared you for a leadership role and given you communication skills to build and maintain a solid internal and external network.
Above all you know its people who run vessels and as such demonstrate excellent people skills and HR knowledge.
You must be able to influence all levels of stakeholders – from AB to CEO.
