Job Description
Sr. Supplier Development Engineer
Reports To: Supplier Quality Manager, Americas
Location: Bangalore, India
SUMMARY:
Allegion, a global leader in security products and solutions, is seeking a proactive and experienced Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) to join our team in Bangalore, India. This role is pivotal in supporting Allegion Global (Americas & International) business units by independently driving supplier development and onboarding initiatives. The SDE will focus on evaluating and enhancing supplier capabilities to meet Allegion’s quality, cost, and delivery standards.
As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will serve as a critical interface between Allegion’s global cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing, and our supplier base in the region. Your role will emphasize supplier identification and conducting Onsite Assessments (OSA) as a critical part of the supplier onboarding process to determine the suitability of suppliers for Allegion's business needs. You will lead supplier prospecting – identifying potential suppliers as per requests from the supply management team, capability assessments, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and implement best practices for new product introductions and supplier optimization.
The successful candidate will demonstrate high levels of professional maturity and the ability to drive projects to completion with minimal daily oversight from US-based leadership, acting as the primary owner of their assigned supply base. This position reports to the Supplier Quality Engineering Manager, Americas, with a strong functional alignment to the Regional Procurement Manager, India. If you are passionate about developing robust supplier partnerships and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct Onsite Assessments across the APAC region to evaluate supplier capabilities for new sourcing activities and facilitate supplier onboarding by ensuring alignment on technical specifications, quality standards, and operational expectations via PPAPs with plant quality personnel.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing, to identify and qualify new suppliers that align with Allegion’s strategic and sourcing goals and ensure the supply base supports business growth.
Independently lead supplier development initiatives by identifying gaps in supplier performance and collaborating with suppliers to improve processes through capability studies, FMEA, MSAs/GRRs, control plans, and error-proofing techniques.
Drive end-to-end project execution with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying potential bottlenecks and executing mitigation strategies.
Support New Product Development (NPD) programs by facilitating supplier readiness for Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) activities, including Characteristics Review Process, yield reviews, and run-at-rate activities.
Manage project timelines and communications effectively across global time zones, ensuring proactive reporting to Americas-based leadership and maintaining momentum on regional initiatives.
Conduct supplier audits, performance reviews, and support other supplier-related initiatives, such as scorecards, risk assessments, and performance tracking, to monitor compliance and enable data-driven decision-making.
Collaborate with global and regional teams to develop and document standardized supplier development processes, tools, and metrics.
Act as a technical liaison between Allegion and suppliers, ensuring clear communication of requirements, expectations, and feedback.
Train internal teams and suppliers on quality tools, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent application and understanding of Allegion’s requirements.
