Senior Dataplatform Admin

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for execution of standard tasks that fall under the data platform administration domain.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Platform Administration: 2. Manage and maintain the following (but not limited to) data platforms:

- DataOps. Live – open-source Gitlab platform and infrastructure administration - Qlik Replicate – change data capture tools against relational and document database sources and targeting cloud data warehouse - Oracle Goldengate – change data capture against Oracle database sources and targeting Kafka

1. Administration tasks of above platforms include (but not limited to):

- Problem diagnosis & resolution - Configuration, Patching, and Upgrades - On-Call Rotation (after introductory period)

1. Cloud & Hybrid Environments 2. Support on-prem, hybrid and cloud-based data platforms

- Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Windows Server and Linux Administration - Kubernetes, Docker containers, etc.

1. Monitor and optimize data platform usage and costs (FinOps) 2. Performance & Optimization

- Conduct performance tuning and optimization efforts. - Analyze workloads and recommend improvements. - Implement capacity planning and resource management.

1. Security & Compliance

- Enforce data security policies, including access controls and encryption. - Ensure compliance with data governance and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). - Perform regular audits and vulnerability assessments.

1. Automation & Scripting

- Develop and maintain automation scripts for backups, monitoring, and deployments. - Use tools like PowerShell, Python, or Bash to streamline administrative tasks. - Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices using tools like Python, YAML, Terraform or Ansible.

1. Collaboration & Support

- Work closely with data engineers, developers, and analysts to support data workflows. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior administrators. - Participate in incident response and root cause analysis. - Participate in project planning and technical design. - Provide support to application developers and collaborate with other teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field - 16 years of formal education. - 7+ years of experience with data platform administration/engineering or equivalent work. - Advanced knowledge of data platforms, principles, and security. - Advanced proficiency with SQL. - Experience with Windows and Linux server administration. - Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and automation tools. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. - Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. - Confirmed ability to acquire knowledge of new data technologies while on the job. - Confirmed ability to execute tasks independently, to self-initiate work, and to engage with work deeply. - Confirmed ability to pay meticulous attention to details. - Confirmed ability to meet goals and deadlines. - Confirmed ability to quickly diagnose issues and come up with solutions and/or workarounds. - Confirmed ability to work independently or collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism always. - Exercise self-control under trying or tough circumstances, situations, or under any kind of pressure. - Experience with 24x7 on-call. - Availability for 24x7 on-call on a rotational basis. - Availability for after-hours and weekend work (as needed).
