Senior European VAT Consultant

Compensation 18LPA to 23LPA Location Gurugram Contract position Employment duration-6 months extendable We are looking for an experienced and proactive Global VAT Compliance Associate / Senior Associate to manage VAT compliance responsibilities within the European region. This position offers the opportunity to lead VAT compliance activities, liaise with cross-functional teams and external advisors, and ensure compliance with local VAT laws in various countries. Key Responsibilities End-to-end VAT compliance management for multiple EU jurisdictions including preparation, review, and filing of VAT returns. Monitor VAT regulatory updates across EU and assess impacts on the organization; communicate changes appropriately. Support VAT planning initiatives and provide technical VAT advice related to transactions and business structures. Develop and maintain controls and procedures to ensure compliance and mitigate VAT risks. Mentor and support junior team members on VAT best practices and compliance processes. Prepare management reports on VAT compliance status and identify risks or opportunities for improvement. Qualifications & Skills bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related discipline. 4-7 years of substantive VAT compliance experience within EU, preferably within a multinational corporation or professional services firm. Solid understanding of VAT legislation, compliance requirements, and EMEA-specific VAT nuances. Hands-on experience with VAT return preparation, VAT reconciliations, and audit support. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficiency in MS Excel and tax compliance software/systems. Experience with ERP systems is a plus. Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural and multi-jurisdictional environment. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
