Senior Data Analyst

We are seeking a

Senior Data Platform & Database Engineer

with

5 years of relevant experience

to take ownership of our SQL Server–based data and reporting environment while helping shape our transition to a modern cloud data platform and Power BI or related tools. The role blends maintaining today’s critical systems with building tomorrow’s analytics foundation.

Key Responsibilities 1. Maintain and Support Legacy Data Estate (50–60%)

Manage and optimise SQL Server databases, SSIS packages, SSRS reports, and T‑SQL code. Perform routine database administration (performance tuning, security, backups, resilience). Troubleshoot data issues affecting reporting and Power BI.

2. Build the Future Data Platform (40–50%)

Contribute to data platform design and implementation. Develop and support data pipelines for analytics and reporting. Apply solid data modelling for BI and semantic models. Prepare high‑quality datasets for AI/ML use cases. Support migration from SQL Server to cloud data-lake and contribute to data standards and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience:

Essential Strong SQL Server experience in production BI environments Hands‑on skills with SSIS, SSRS, T‑SQL development Data modelling for analytics and Power BI dataset performance Strong troubleshooting across data pipelines and databases Comfortable owning business‑critical systems Desirable Experience or interest in cloud data lakes Exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms Knowledge of ELT / analytics engineering Experience preparing data for AI/ML Python or scripting for automation Understanding of data governance and quality concepts Qualities We’re Looking For Pragmatic engineer who balances stability with innovation Comfortable working in a transitioning data landscape Strong communicator across technical and non‑technical teams Continuous learner with interest in modern data platforms and AI
