Archiving Squad – Report Developer

Sonata is seeking a skilled Report Developer to join the Archiving Squad, responsible for building complex, high-quality reports required for archived data validation, audit support, and legacy system decommissioning. This role requires strong expertise in Power BI Report Builder, SQL, and Solix report development. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent formatting skills, and the ability to work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and architecture teams.

Key Responsibilities

Report Development

- Develop complex and highly formatted reports using Power BI Report Builder, including paginated reports, compliance-driven outputs, and audit artifacts. - Build custom SQL queries and data models required to support reporting use cases for legacy data archiving. - Create and enhance Solix-based reports for data validation, extraction summaries, and archival integrity checks.

Data & Query Work

- Design, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries for performance, readability, and accuracy. - Collaborate with data engineers to understand source structures, mappings, and Data Vault outputs. - Ensure alignment of report logic with business requirements, archival rules, and data quality standards.

Documentation & Governance

- Document report specifications, layout requirements, data mapping logic, and testing procedures. - Ensure all report development adheres to SDLC and governance frameworks. - Participate in code reviews, testing cycles, and defect resolution.

Cross-Team Collaboration

- Work closely with the Archiving Squad, business SMEs, and QA teams. - Present reports, layouts, and logic to stakeholders and incorporate feedback effectively. - Support ad‑hoc reporting and trouble‑shooting for archived datasets.

Skills & Experience Required

Core Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Reports). - Solid experience writing and optimizing SQL queries, views, and stored procedures. - Experience in Solix report development or equivalent archival/reporting tools. - Good understanding of data modeling concepts (preferably Data Vault, relational models). - Ability to design reports with specific and complex formatting requirements (tables, matrices, grouped layouts, multi-page formats).

Additional Skills

- Ability to understand lifecycle and rules of data archiving. - Strong attention to detail and high-quality output. - Good communication skills for explaining report logic and collaborating with stakeholders. - Understanding of SDLC processes and Agile squad-based delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

- 6–10 years of experience in report development or data engineering/reporting roles. - Experience working with enterprise archiving platforms (Solix preferred). - Exposure to AWS-based data environments (S3, Redshift, RDS, Glue) is a plus. - Experience in consulting or client-facing project delivery.
