Position Summary
This Position is a leadership role responsible for guiding a team in designing and developing
Pharma machinery, from concept to production, ensuring it meets performance, safety and client
requirements. Key duties include strategic planning, managing the design team, collaborating
with cross-functional teams and overseeing project timelines and budgets. The role requires a
strong blend of technical expertise in CAD software and mechanical principles, Automation
integration combined with leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
Role Description
Lead the Design function for development and engineering of new and enhanced pharma
machinery, with a key focus on tablet compression machines.
● Drive end-to-end design projects from concept to production, ensuring adherence to technical
specifications, timelines, and cost targets.
● Provide strong technical and creative leadership to the design team, promoting innovation and
a culture of continuous improvement.
● Establish and standardize design frameworks, guidelines, and best practices for solid dosage
pharma machinery, tooling, and related processes.
● Conduct structured design reviews, offering technical direction, mentorship, and capability
building for team members.
● Keep abreast of emerging technologies and integrate relevant advancements to improve product
design and manufacturing efficiency.
● Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality assurance,
and electrical to ensure design feasibility, integration, and compliance.
● Engage with clients to understand functional requirements and convert them into robust and
innovative design solutions.
● Utilize advanced CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to develop and manage precise 2D and 3D
models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
● Validate designs through testing and analysis to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and
performance standards.
● Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications,
BOMs, and user manuals.
● Diagnose and resolve design-related challenges by implementing practical and efficient
engineering solutions.
● Present and review designs with clients, incorporate feedback, and ensure high levels of
customer satisfaction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES.
Education - (degree / diploma)
● B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
Experience
- 15–20+ years of progressive experience in Design, including
at least 5–7 years in a leadership role such as Design Head,
preferably within an engineering or manufacturing
organization. Prior exposure to pharmaceutical machinery
design will be a strong advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
(Functional / Technical)
- Proficiency in 3D design software such as SolidWorks, Solid
Edge, or similar tools.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while adapting to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
