About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and data-driven General Manager – Digital Marketing to lead our digital growth initiatives across news, infotainment, and content platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the Indian digital media landscape, deep expertise in social media marketing, and hands-on experience in scaling content-led digital businesses.
Key Responsibilities
1. Digital Strategy & Growth
Develop and execute comprehensive digital marketing strategies to drive audience growth, engagement, retention, and revenue.
Build and manage performance-driven campaigns across social, search, and display ecosystems.
Lead initiatives for paid, owned, and earned media to achieve overall business KPIs.
2. Social Media, Meta & Paid Marketing Excellence
Deep expertise in Meta ecosystem (FB, IG) — algorithm understanding, ads manager, optimization, audience segmentation, content formats, and analytics.
Oversee paid media planning, execution, and ROI measurement across Meta, Google, YouTube, Programmatic, and other emerging platforms.
Implement advanced performance marketing techniques, including retargeting, funnel optimization, and A/B testing.
3. Content-led Growth & Audience Development
Collaborate with editorial, video production, and social media teams to optimize content strategy.
Use audience insights, platform trends, and analytics to drive content virality and distribution.
Work closely with content creators, editors, and social teams to align storytelling with platform-specific best practices.
4. News Media Expertise
Minimum 5 years of experience in news media, understanding fast-paced newsroom workflows.
Strong grasp of breaking news cycles, content compliance, reliability, and operational agility required in media environments.
Deep familiarity with digital news consumption patterns and regional audience behavior, especially in Maharashtra.
5. Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration
Lead a multi-disciplinary digital marketing team—performance marketers, social specialists, designers, analysts.
Drive a culture of experimentation, accountability, and innovation.
Collaborate closely with product, tech, sales, editorial, and business leadership to align goals.
6. Analytics, Reporting & Business Intelligence
Strong command over Google Analytics, Meta Insights, YouTube Studio, Comscore, and other analytics tools.
Build dashboards, track KPIs, and present actionable insights to leadership.
Evaluate campaign effectiveness and optimize strategies based on data.
7. Brand Strategy & Digital Communication
Strengthen the digital brand presence across platforms through consistent, high-quality storytelling.
Oversee digital creatives, branding, and communication for campaigns.
Ensure brand guidelines and tonality are maintained across touchpoints.
Required Skills & Qualifications
12–14 years of overall digital marketing experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the news/media industry.
Proven track record in growing large-scale digital platforms, preferably at a content-first or news publication.
Strong understanding of Marathi audience and fluency in Marathi language (written & spoken).
Expertise in Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, YouTube marketing, SEO, SEM, and influencer partnerships.
Experience in working with large content ecosystems—text, video, social content, digital publishing.
Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage high-pressure situations and meet aggressive deadlines.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
