Staff Engineer – DSP Test & Algorithm Verification (LiDAR Systems)

About the Role
We are seeking a Staff Engineer – DSP Test to own the verification, performance validation, and reliability assessment of advanced signal processing algorithms powering next-generation LiDAR products.
In this role, you will operate at the intersection of mathematics, DSP theory, embedded systems, and automation, ensuring our proprietary perception and point-cloud generation pipelines meet the highest standards of accuracy, robustness, and automotive compliance.
You will partner deeply with DSP architects, firmware engineers, and systems teams to translate complex real-world sensing challenges into scalable test strategies.
What You'll Do
Algorithm Verification & Signal Analysis
- Design and implement validation tests for complex DSP algorithms using:
- Detection & Estimation Theory
- Random Processes & Statistical Signal Analysis
- Communications & Information Theory
- Verify performance of LiDAR DSP and perception pipelines across:
- Real-world driving data
- Controlled verification environments
- Synthetic simulation scenarios
Data-Driven Validation
- Analyze large-scale LiDAR point cloud datasets for:
- Accuracy, noise characteristics, and detection robustness
- Algorithm stability across environmental conditions
- Performance edge cases and failure modes
Test Strategy & Automation
- Build scalable automated test frameworks in Python & C++
- Drive functional, regression, and performance validation across embedded systems
- Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines for continuous algorithm verification
Cross-Functional Debugging
- Deep-dive algorithm failures with DSP, firmware, and perception teams
- Isolate root causes across software, hardware, and signal-processing layers
- Convert insights into improved algorithms and stronger test coverage
Embedded & Automotive Quality
- Validate DSP software in Linux-based embedded environments
- Support automotive compliance and system-level reliability strategies
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, or related field
- Strong foundation in:
- Digital Signal Processing
- Probability & Random Processes
- Communication Systems
- 5+ years experience designing, optimizing, or validating DSP algorithms for:
- Radar
- LiDAR
- Imaging or sensing systems
- Expertise in:
- DSP architectures and algorithm performance analysis
- Python & C++ for test development and automation
- Embedded Linux environments
- Experience working in Agile teams with CI/CD workflows (Jenkins, JIRA, Bitbucket)
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with FMCW Radar or LiDAR signal processing
- Strong knowledge of:
- Link budgets
- Minimum Detectable Signal (MDS)
- SNR and signal-to-clutter analysis
- FPGA-based DSP development experience
- Exposure to automotive standards: ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, ASPICE
- Familiarity with requirements management tools (JAMA or similar)
