Role Overview
The BU Head – CNS Therapy will be responsible for driving end-to-end P&L ownership, strategic direction, market expansion, and operational excellence for the CNS Business Unit. The role requires a seasoned leader with strong expertise in pharmaceutical sales, neuroscience therapy business development, marketing, and nationwide sales operations.
The candidate will work closely with the Vertical Head to align CNS business strategies with the organization’s long-term growth vision and market expansion goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Business Management
Develop and execute the CNS Business Plan in alignment with organizational vision and strategic objectives.
Drive strategic roadmap creation, budgeting, forecasting, P&L management, and manpower planning.
Lead strategy formulation across marketing, sales, promotions, and nationwide CNS operations.
Identify growth opportunities in key CNS segments such as Psychiatry and Neurology.
Business Development
Analyze CNS market potential and design strategies to drive sales growth, increase turnover, and achieve targets.
Monitor competitor activities within CNS therapy and implement effective counter-strategies.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market mapping and field surveys.
Build and nurture strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (Psychiatrists, Neurologists), Key Accounts, and institutional customers to ensure consistent product support and brand loyalty.
Marketing & Product Management
Conceptualize and execute marketing initiatives including CMEs, conferences, seminars, and product launches focused on CNS therapy.
Strengthen product visibility through structured promotional campaigns and brand-building initiatives.
Effectively communicate company positioning within the CNS segment to target audiences.
Lead new product launch strategies and maximize market share in core CNS brands.
Sales & Distribution Leadership
Lead and manage nationwide CNS Sales & Marketing teams.
Launch new CNS divisions/products and appoint CSA/Distributors/Stockists across regions.
Ensure proper stock availability and efficient distribution from Head Office to CFA and downstream channels.
Recruit, train, and develop high-performing CNS sales teams.
Plan and monitor rupee-wise and unit-wise sales to ensure achievement of monthly and periodic targets.
Identify low-productivity territories and implement corrective strategies.
Strengthen distributor and stockist network efficiency and compliance.
Operational Excellence
Ensure timely and accurate expense reporting at individual and unit levels.
Maintain compliance with company policies and ethical standards.
Manage customer issues with quick and effective resolution.
Oversee documentation and distributor coordination processes.
Ensure inventory management, secondary sales tracking, and effective order follow-ups.
Drive strong on-ground implementation of CNS strategies and coverage plans.
People Leadership
Lead, mentor, and motivate teams to drive strong productivity and professional growth.
Create a performance-driven culture within the CNS Business Unit.
Inspire accountability, ownership, and a growth mindset across the team.
Qualifications & Experience
15–25+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical Sales & Marketing, with strong exposure to
CNS Therapy (Psychiatry/Neurology segment preferred)
.
Proven experience in P&L management, team leadership, and launching new divisions.
Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and stakeholder management skills.
