Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive
Network Engineer
responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure, including switching, wireless, firewall, ISP connectivity, and LAN security.
The role involves monitoring performance, handling escalations, coordinating with L2 for approvals, managing ISP and MPLS connections, implementing security standards, and ensuring high availability of network services. The candidate will also oversee backups, licensing, VPN configurations, and network security compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Switching & Core Network Management
Manage and maintain all Distribution, Core, and Access switches.
Configure all new switches and verify configurations done by L1 engineers.
Monitor fiber uplink status and switch rack infrastructure.
Monitor and manage bandwidth utilization and ISP traffic.
Take regular backups of all networking hardware and software.
Maintain and verify LAN-WAN, WAN-LAN, WAN-DMZ, DMZ-WAN, DMZ-LAN, LAN-DMZ firewall configurations.
2. Wireless Network Management
Monitor and manage:
Aruba Mobility Master
Aruba Controller
Aruba Instant AP
Aruba AirWave
HPE Intelligent Management Center
Handle AP licensing and certificate management.
Create and implement Security SOP for Wi-Fi and LAN access.
Implement and manage 802.1x LAN security.
Monitor and manage Aruba sensors and authentication (TACACS).
3. Firewall & Security Management
Monitor and manage:
FortiGate Firewall and Analyzer
Aruba ClearPass
Ensure firewall policy configurations follow industry standards.
Verify and monitor VPN configuration and access.
Manage and monitor Site-to-Site VPN tunnel configurations.
Monitor all networking device certificates and licensing compliance.
(All configuration changes require L3 approval.)
4. ISP & MPLS Management
Monitor and manage all ISP performance and uptime.
Manage and monitor MPLS connectivity (St. Johns – Kanakapura).
Coordinate with ISPs and vendors for issue resolution.
Handle TAC and support tickets for ISP, Wi-Fi, switching, and firewall-related issues.
5. Escalation & Support Handling
Handle all escalations from L1 engineers.
Review all configurations done by L1.
Handle L1 calls during L1 absence.
Coordinate with L3 (over phone) and handle L3-level calls during L3 absence.
6. Compliance, Inventory & Coordination
Verify passive and active networking item stock with L1 and IT Admin.
Verify passive network work completion and certify.
Validate passive quotations along with IT Admin.
Ensure proper documentation and backup of network configurations.
Maintain compliance documentation for licenses and renewals.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, VLANs, Routing & Switching.
Hands-on experience in Aruba wireless solutions.
Experience in FortiGate firewall configuration and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of VPN (Remote & Site-to-Site), MPLS, and ISP management.
Experience in 802.1x implementation and network access control.
Familiarity with TACACS authentication.
Strong troubleshooting and escalation handling skills.
Good documentation and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications
CCNA / CCNP certification preferred.
Experience in enterprise-level network environments.
Exposure to ITIL processes and change management.
