Role: Junior Architect
Kupperman Companies is a commercial real estate development and investment firm based in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, that specializes in acquiring, developing, and investing in commercial real estate assets, with a particular focus on hotels, multi-family, mixed-use, and retail assets.
We seek a Junior Architect with a prior background at a private architecture firm. The ideal candidate flourishes in an entrepreneurial, collaborative environment and possesses a high level of initiative and independence.
You should be self-motivated & very organized with an ability to work independently & meet tight deadlines, as well as interact with tenants and vendors in a professional manner.
Your Mission
You’ll be the company lead for all things architecture and design. You will support the design and delivery of hospitality, multifamily, retail, and mixed-use projects across all phases, including conceptual planning, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration. This role is ideal for an early-career professional looking to grow technical expertise and project experience in a fast-paced, execution-focused environment. You will work under the direction of project leaders to develop drawing sets and maintain documentation standards. The Junior Architect will also act as our internal graphic design lead, and contribute to presentations and material selections, support permitting and agency submissions, and assist with field observations as needed. Success in this role requires strong Revit (or other similar software) skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, team-first mindset.
Job Duties
:
Produce architectural drawings and sheets, primarily in schematic design.
Assist with schematic design, space planning, and early layout studies based on project requirements.
Support design development by drafting plans, elevations, sections, wall types, and key details.
Create project presentation materials including diagrams, finish boards, and design narratives.
Help prepare and organize documentation for permit submissions, agency reviews, and entitlement packages.
Support drawing set quality control by checking dimensioning, tags, schedules, and sheet organization.
Assist senior staff in reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and product data for alignment with design intent.
Track and help manage RFIs, drawing revisions, and change documentation during construction.
Maintain internal file structure, drawing standards, and model organization consistent with company workflows.
Support coordination between design and construction teams to help resolve design/field conflicts efficiently.
Contribute to material selection documentation and finish schedules under senior guidance.
Keep meeting notes, action items, and coordination logs to support project execution.
Education & Qualifications
Experience with tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape/Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam
Ability to create clean design diagrams, presentation layouts, graphics, and high-quality renders
Fluent in English.
Customer service oriented.
Great attitude, creativity and flexibility on meeting whatever the day brings is a must!

Experience
:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (or equivalent education/experience)
0–5 years of architectural experience (internships and co-ops included)
Proficiency in Revit or similar software with the ability to produce organized, accurate drawing sets
Understanding of architectural documentation standards (plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules)
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Clear communication skills—able to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external consultants
High attention to detail and commitment to drawing/model accuracy
Professional approach to schedule reliability, accountability, and teamwork
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
