About the role
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services for Australian clients.
This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing activities, payroll data accuracy, and supporting compliance with Australian payroll legislation and internal standards. You will work closely with internal teams and Australian stakeholders to ensure payroll processes are completed correctly, queries are resolved promptly, and deadlines are consistently met. The position is intentionally office-based to support collaboration, process discipline, and quality assurance.
What you’ll be responsible for
You will support payroll delivery across a portfolio of Australian clients, including:
Preparing payroll processing data and completing pre-payroll checks
Setting up and maintaining employee records in payroll systems, including:
personal and employment details
TFN and tax settings
pay rates, awards, and classifications
superannuation and bank details
PAYG withholding and tax settings
leave entitlements and opening balances
Validating timesheets and leave records
Processing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls
Ensuring accuracy of wages, deductions, entitlements, and payroll outputs
Managing annual leave, personal leave, and long service leave records
Handling termination payments and redundancy calculations
Supporting payroll tax calculations and lodgements
Reconciling payroll reports to the general ledger
Managing STP setup and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting
In addition, you will:
Maintain payroll checklists, controls, and supporting documentation
Identify discrepancies and escalate issues where required
Resolve payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner
Ensure payroll deadlines are consistently met without delay
Support compliance with Fair Work requirements, payroll legislation, and company policies
Work across payroll platforms including Xero Payroll, MYOB Payroll, NetSuite, and Attache
Contribute to process improvements and stronger payroll controls over time
About you
Proven experience processing payroll for Australian clients or within Australian payroll environments
Strong understanding of payroll legislation, Fair Work requirements, leave entitlements, and payroll compliance
Experience with payroll systems such as Xero Payroll, MYOB Payroll, NetSuite, and/or Attache
Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately with sensitive employee data
Confident working with timesheets, employee records, reconciliations, and payroll reporting
Able to identify issues, solve problems, and escalate where appropriate
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage strict deadlines
Clear and professional communicator with a customer-focused approach
Experience in an offshore delivery or professional services environment is preferred
