What You’ll Be Doing (position summary): The Senior Manager, Physical Security Operations plays a critical role in safeguarding CIBC’s enterprise-wide physical assets and environments by leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of physical security operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the organization’s physical security objectives are achieved through effective oversight, strategic planning, and operational excellence. By proactively managing risks and enhancing physical security capabilities, the Senior Manager adds significant value to CIBC by protecting people, property, and reputation, and supporting the organization’s commitment to safety and resilience. How You’ll Succeed (responsibilities): In support of the overall Corporate Security mandate, the individual will be responsible to facilitate the development and implementation of the physical security operations program strategies, programs and standards to protect people, property and information for CIBC This will include: Oversight and management of contracted physical security personnel and associated strategies. Development, establishment and management of associated standards, procedures and protocols to safeguard CIBC’s tangible and intangible assets. Liaise with external security stakeholders to support CIBC’s security efforts This will include establishing lines of communication and a network of good professional relationships. Providing advice and support to various internal stakeholders to relating to the overall physical security operations and associated administration. Identifying, evaluating and recommending methods to mitigate threats to people, property, and information. Developing governance and oversight strategies necessary to fulfill monitoring and reporting accountabilities for policies owned by Corporate Security. Facilitate Reviews of CIBC’s Corporate Security Standards, supporting the updating process as necessary to ensure the standards reflect the evolving operating and threat environment. Conducting benchmarking to identify best practices and emerging issues. Maintaining an awareness of new or emerging security best practices.

This role provides leadership and effective management of staff to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their role by: Setting appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals. Building team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. Ensuring compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.

Performs duties related to planning and managing activities by: Setting strategic and operational goals for the group, including the development of supporting plans. Implementing and managing the group’s strategic and tactical plan to address the current and future business needs of clients. Ensuring all changes to processes are communicated, documented and implemented through established methodology and communicated to other operations. Maintaining a strong network of internal relationships to promote exchange of information and ideas and enable completion of activities. Preparing necessary proposals. Modifying, on an ongoing basis, the action plans to reflect changes in objectives and priorities. Identifying deficiencies within operations for the purpose of developing and implementing enhancements/improvements. Ensuring that all processes utilized are defined, documented, measured, and maintained. Determining, with sufficient lead times, when various resources are required.

Experience: 10+ years of experience Who You Are (skills/qualifications): Must Have Skills: Well-developed reporting and presentation skills eg, PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau. Well-developed data management, project management and analytics skills. Effective written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills to prepare reports, assessments, correspondence and briefing notes. Skilled in presentations/interaction with management at all levels, sufficient to convey complex conceptual information/ideas on issues requiring extensive interpretation and opinion. Experience in applying an appropriate level of discretion when dealing with sensitive issues will be critical to success in this position. Possession of a professional designation in the security field such as ones available from ASIS International (CPP, PSP) is not required; however, is preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of security principles, practices and procedures in a large multi-product, multi business environment. Recognized as a subject area expert with a strong ability to think strategically as well as develop supporting tactical plans. Strong analytical skills in reviewing data and information to assess risk and interpret findings. Strong ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives simultaneously and under tight deadlines. Influencing skills to shape the development of initiatives and programs.
