About the role
This key, individual contributor will be responsible for global network architecture services.
The Network Architect is the hands-on technologist involved in architect strategy, end state design and solution engineering direction for the Network domain.
The Network Architect takes technical leadership of the design for all technology sub-domains related to Network technologies. This includes new technologies as well as more traditional technologies.
The Network Architect is responsible for documenting Network technology enterprise level design, developing standards within the Network domain, facilitating the development of the domain strategies and roadmaps.
This position provides: oversight to the development of well-formulated models of the components of the Network design, augmenting the models as necessary to fit all of the circumstances; overall Network architecture integrity; ensures leverage opportunities are identified; and maintains architectural models as a framework for understanding the Network domain.
The Network Architect will engage industry and academic resources for deep sub-domain expertise. Additionally, (s)he will develop communication and education forums covering Network standards and industry directions.(S)he will identify strategies and timing of the introduction of new Network technologies that bring value to WK. WK is in the middle of the next phase of our transformation that goes Cloud First, Wireless First and Internet First, moving away from traditional Network concepts to support this the Sr Network Architect need to have deep domain expertise in the following areas:
Network virtualization, automation and orchestration
Cloud Networking incl. Cloud Connectivity (Azure, AWS, SoftLayer)
ZTNA/ZTA
Cloud Based Security Services
Wireless connectivity
Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN)
Internet Connectivity
Routing Protocols
Cloud Connectivity
Network Security
IP Addressing (Schemas, VLANS)
Firewalls
Load Balancers
Remote Access Services
Site to Site VPN’s
Domain Name Services
Micro segmentation
All other IP Network based or reliant technologies.
The Network Architect will provide direction and authority in the following areas:
Domain knowledge expert (Network)
Strategic Planning
Upgrade plans
Define and track standards
Evolve technical solutions.
Strategic planning
Refresh plans
Emerging technologies
Innovation
Designs and diagrams
Publishing articles in the Network Domain (internal and external)
Presenting on Technical symposiums (internal and external)
Operations and Functional Duties Required:
Manages day to day support of network services, equipment, and tools.
