Job Overview We are seeking a Switch Technology Design Engineer to design and develop electromechanical low-current and rotary switches for automotive applications. The role involves owning the product lifecycle from concept design, prototyping, validation, and production transfer, ensuring reliability, manufacturability, and compliance with automotive standards. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electromechanical switch design, contact systems, and automotive electronics environments.

Key Responsibilities Product Design & Development Design and develop electromechanical low-current switches, rotary switches, and related components for automotive applications such as infotainment systems, HVAC controls, instrument clusters, sensors, and body electronics. Engineer contact systems for microamp to milliamp current ranges, focusing on contact resistance, bounce, durability, and corrosion mitigation. Design mechanical components including detents, actuators, shafts, housings, springs, and elastomeric interfaces. Develop multi-position rotary systems, wipers, indexing mechanisms, and tactile feedback systems. Engineering & Simulation Create 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs using tools such as SolidWorks or equivalent. Perform mechanical and electrical simulations including contact dynamics, wear analysis, and reliability simulations. Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and reliability evaluations. Testing & Validation Define and execute

test plans

including: Functional testing Environmental testing (temperature, humidity, vibration) Lifecycle endurance testing EMC/ESD testing Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, LCR meters, vibration rigs, and environmental chambers. Reliability & Quality Perform DFMEA and root cause analysis to identify and resolve design failures. Support automotive reliability and compliance requirements, including safety and quality standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with systems engineering, PCB design, firmware teams, suppliers, and manufacturing teams. Ensure products meet cost targets, manufacturability requirements, and production scalability. Support supplier qualification and component selection. Documentation & Production Transfer Prepare technical specifications, validation reports, and verification documentation. Support PPAP documentation and production release processes.

Required Qualifications Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in: Electromechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Or related discipline Experience 3+ years of experience designing electromechanical switches or rotary switches. Experience working in automotive electronics or harsh environment applications preferred.

Required Technical Skills Strong knowledge of contact physics for low-current circuits Experience with contact materials and plating (Gold, Silver, Nickel, etc.) Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or equivalent Experience with mechanical and electrical simulation tools Knowledge of DFMEA, reliability engineering, and design reviews Familiarity with automotive reliability testing protocols Experience with PCB-mounted switch interfaces and microcontroller inputs

Preferred Skills Knowledge of automotive standards such as: ISO 26262 AEC‑Q100 Experience designing rotary encoders or multi-position switches Understanding of low-power automotive electronics and signal integrity Experience with supplier management and production transfer

Key Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent documentation and communication abilities Ability to work in cross-functional engineering teams Hands-on approach to prototyping and validation Ability to work in a fast-paced product development environment

Work Environment Primarily office and engineering lab environment with standard workstation equipment. Occasional work in testing environments involving electronic measurement and environmental testing equipment. Ability to travel up to 25% for supplier or project requirements.
