Job Description
1. Drive the end-to-end software platform integration for our hardware products in the EMS industry.
2. accountable for defining the OS image strategy for all device variants and ensuring seamless integration of the operating system, device drivers, BIOS/EC firmware, and preloaded software across our product line.
3. Primary interface to key technology partners (including Microsoft, silicon vendors, and independent software vendors) to coordinate software preload programs, compatibility validations, and required certifications, enabling smooth product launch and excellent user experience.
4. Creation and maintenance of the master “golden image,” manages system recovery flows and update strategies, and champions best practices in firmware governance to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance devices to our customers
Responsibilities
1. Develop and manage a robust operating system image strategy (including master “golden” images and required variants) for all products, ensuring consistent configurations and performance across different hardware models
2. Oversee the integration of device drivers, system BIOS/UEFI, EC firmware, and other platform software components, establishing governance for version control and quality compliance to guarantee seamless hardware-software interoperability.
3. Coordinate with Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) for software preload, validation, and certification processes.
4. Ensure that third-party applications and solutions are tested and optimized for compatibility on our platforms, and that all required ISV and platform certifications (e.g., workstation or device ISV certifications) are successfully obtained.
5. Act as the primary liaison with key external software and hardware partners – including OS providers and silicon/technology vendors – to align OS release roadmaps, driver updates, and firmware patches with hardware development.
6. Facilitate collaboration to ensure our products meet all partner requirements and industry standards for platform support and security.
7. Establish streamlined update/patch deployment practices to keep device software (OS, drivers, firmware) up-to-date and secure throughout the product lifecycle, with minimal impact on manufacturing and end-user experience.
8. Lead cross-functional engineering teams (software, firmware, hardware, QA) and coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure timely delivery of software components in line with product launch schedules.
9. Define and enforce quality standards for all software deliverables.
10. Oversee system-level validation testing (OS, drivers, BIOS, firmware) to meet reliability, performance, and security standards. Ensure compliance with industry certifications and implement processes for prompt issue resolution, firmware updates, and customer support related to platform software.
Technical Skills
1. Deep expertise in operating system imaging & internals, device driver integration, BIOS/UEFI and embedded controller (EC) firmware configuration.
2. Strong understanding of hardware-software co-development and system-level architecture.
3. Knowledge of firmware update processes and system recovery mechanisms.
Tool Skills
1. Proficiency with OS deployment and imaging toolkits and system imaging methods.
2. Experience with BIOS/firmware development or configuration utilities.
3. Familiarity with version control systems and issue tracking tools for managing software releases
Special Requirements
1. Experience in EMS or high-volume hardware manufacturing environments
2. Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes (including hardware test and validation).
3. Ability to collaborate with global technology partners and suppliers.
4. Willingness to travel to customer or partner sites as needed for integration support and certifications
