Job Title: Senior RPG / RPGLE/ILE Developer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled RPG / RPGLE Developer with strong hands-on experience on IBM i (AS400). The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in RPGLE, ILE concepts, error handling, and database-driven development. Candidates with primary experience in COBOL and limited RPG and RPGLE exposure will NOT be considered.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in RPG / RPGLE with hands-on development experience.

• Excellent understanding of ILE Concepts, including:

o Service Programs

o Binding directories

o Activation groups

o Modules and Programs

• Strong knowledge of CL Programming for job control, automation, and system operations.

• Advanced SQL skills on DB2/400:

o Complex queries

o Joins, subqueries, cursors

o Stored procedures

• Strong File Handling Concepts:

o Physical files, Logical files

o Database design and maintenance

• Robust Error Handling Techniques:

o Exception handling

o Logging and debugging

o Program-level and system-level error control

Core Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance RPGLE applications.

• Develop and enhance applications using ILE architecture best practices.

• Write clean, optimized, and maintainable RPGLE and CL code.

• Perform advanced debugging and root cause analysis of production issues.

• Implement strong error handling mechanisms to ensure system stability.

• Work extensively with DB2/400 using embedded SQL and native SQL.

• Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and system enhancements.

• Collaborate with functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver quality solutions.

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

• RPG/RPGLE must be the primary skill, not secondary.

• Strong ILE and error-handling knowledge is mandatory.

• Candidates with average or basic RPGLE/SQL skills will be rejected.

• Candidates with COBOL-focused profiles and limited RPG exposure will not qualify.
