Engineering Manager

with strong expertise in Java backend development and extensive experience in designing scalable microservices within high-volume payment ecosystems. Proven ability to lead engineering teams, drive technical excellence, and deliver secure, resilient, and high-performance systems in Agile environments. Experienced in mentoring engineers, managing delivery timelines, improving code quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product, QA, DevOps, and Business stakeholders. Core Competencies ✅

Technical Leadership Architecting scalable Microservices using Java & Spring Boot Event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka Payment gateway integrations & transaction processing systems RESTful API design & secure system architecture ISO 8583 & Payment lifecycle workflows (Auth, Capture, Refund, Reversal) PCI-DSS awareness and secure coding practices ✅

Engineering Management Leading and mentoring backend engineering teams Sprint planning, story estimation, backlog grooming Code review governance & engineering best practices Performance management & technical coaching Driving production stability and root cause analysis ✅

Cloud & DevOps AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch) CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Docker & containerized deployments Monitoring & observability frameworks ✅

Database & Performance No SQL, PostgreSQL schema design & optimization High-volume transaction system tuning Distributed caching (Redis) ✅ Incident Management MTTR (Mean Time to Recovery)

Root Cause Analysis published within 48 hours 100% closure of post-mortem action items ✅ Monitoring & Observability 100% critical services with alerts & dashboards Proactive detection ratio > 70% (before customer impact) Key Responsibilities Lead a team of backend engineers in building scalable and secure payment systems Drive architecture decisions aligned with business scalability needs Ensure high code quality, testing standards, and deployment readiness Collaborate with Product and Business teams for roadmap execution Improve system reliability, performance, and observability Manage technical risks and production incidents Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement Leadership Traits Strong decision-making and analytical mindset Excellent stakeholder communication skills Ownership-driven and delivery-focused Ability to balance hands-on coding with strategic leadership Comfortable working in fast-paced fintech/payment environments Team Management ✅Team Performance Management Conduct bi-weekly 1:1 meetings Quarterly performance feedback for each team member Individual Development Plan (IDP) for 100% of team ✅ Talent Development Upskill at least 2 engineers per year (certification / promotion readiness) Create succession plan for critical modules Delegate ownership of at least 3 key services to senior engineers ✅ Hiring & Onboarding Close open positions within defined SLA Reduce new hire ramp-up time to
