Samtel HAL Display Systems Ltd. (SHDS) is a joint venture between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Samtel Avionics, and was created to address the avionics requirements including Test Benches and Systems for all HAL star platforms - both fixed and rotary wing. The Samtel-HAL JV already enjoys the unique distinction of being the first public-private partnership in defence avionics space in India to indigenously design, qualify and serial produce multifunction displays which are currently flying on Su-30 MKI.

About Role

We seek a SatCom Design Engineer /Expert with 2-4 years of hands-on experience to design, implement, manage, and test satellite payloads for IoT applications. You'll ensure 3GPP compliance, collaborate with IoT device manufacturers for seamless integration, coordinate frequency licensing, and support base terminal engineering teams. This role is pivotal for our LEO satellite IoT constellation projects, focusing on reliable, low-latency global connectivity.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Design and implement satellite payloads optimized for IoT data transmission, including modulation schemes, link budgets, and RF subsystems for LEO environments. - Manage end-to-end payload testing, validation, and qualification, ensuring compliance with 3GPP standards (e.g., NB-IoT, LTE-M) for satellite-IoT integration. - Partner with IoT user device manufacturers to develop and certify interoperable solutions, including protocol adaptations and field trials. - Liaise with frequency licensing and coordination bodies (e.g., ITU, IN-SPACe, WPC) for spectrum allocation, interference mitigation, and regulatory approvals. - Actively support base terminal design and engineering teams by providing payload specs, simulation models (e.g., STK), and integration guidance. - Analyse performance metrics like BER, throughput, and latency; optimize for operational resilience. - Contribute to supply chain coordination for payload components and document technical proposals for stakeholder reviews.

Key Experience and Qualification

- Bachelor's/Master's in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field. - 2-4 years of experience in SatCom payload design, IoT satellite systems, or LEO constellations. - Proven expertise in 3GPP-compliant IoT protocols and satellite integration. - Hands-on with tools like MATLAB, STK, or AWS Ground Station for link budget analysis and simulations. - Experience working with regulatory bodies for frequency coordination. - Strong collaboration skills with device OEMs and cross-functional teams (e.g., base station engineers).

Preferred Skills

- Knowledge of space-qualified hardware (e.g., amplifiers, antennas) and supply chain management. - Familiarity with Indian space regulations (IN-SPACe) and defence procurement processes. - Proficiency in Python/C++ for payload firmware and data analytics.
