Role Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading core accounting including trading accounting, month-end closures, treasury support, derivative accounting, accounting operations and financial controls. The role also drives automation initiatives, process improvements, cross-functional collaboration, and supports key strategic projects across Finance, Tax, Risk, IT, HR and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Month-End Closures
Lead and deliver accurate and timely month-end, quarterly, and annual book closures for the trading business.
Ensure integrity of balance sheet and P&L through strong reconciliations and control processes.
Manage review of shipping business and overheads month end books closure.
Maintain high-quality documentation to support clean year-end audits.
Ensure continued support to Middle office (Risk), Operations, Treasury and Tax.
Manage daily accounting operations activities around invoicing, bank reconciliations, CTRM housekeeping and ERP upkeep.
Manage lease accounting for trading and non-trading assets.
2. Trading, Derivatives & Treasury Accounting
Take full ownership of trading accounting activities.
Manage interest rate swaps and derivative accounting, ensuring compliance and reporting accuracy.
Provide daily cash flow and liquidity forecasting to support treasury decision-making.
Ensure accuracy in daily finance file processing, liquidity publishing, and query resolution.
3. Process Automation & Continuous Improvement
Identify and correct legacy issues and assume ongoing ownership.
Challenge upstream processes by identifying gaps and strengthening controls.
Develop practical workarounds for IT delays to ensure uninterrupted project delivery.
Regularize reporting frameworks for entire Balance sheet and publish monthly accounting P&L reconciled to commercial P&L.
4. Operational Resilience & Adaptability
Effectively manage priorities during peak reporting cycles.
Consistently meet all daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting deadlines.
Demonstrate leadership through delegation and time management to ensure critical deliverables remain on track.

Qualifications & Experience
CA / CPA / ACCA (Qualified or Part Qualified).
5–8+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in trading or commodity environments with knowledge of IFRS
Working knowledge of Shipping industry
Strong understanding of treasury operations and derivative accounting.
Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
